Stuck On DirectInput Controller Settings

Whenever I load the game it automatically goes to the DirectInput Controller Settings screen and It tells me to set the button mapping for the 1p controller but i cant do anything. Nothing an my keyboard or controller does anything. Anyone know what to do?

If you have a XInput/XBox 360 controller, try going to big picture mode, select the game, go to manage game, controller options, and turn off "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers".

These games are detecting XInput controllers as DirectInput if they're configured through Steam.
XInput controllers are detected automatically and have no configuration window on startup.

This so far seemed to me to be the most reasonable fix of all. Unfortunately still frozen at the controls screen for me. Thanks for the tip tho.

I bypassed by going to the top left Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings>Check Generic Gamepad Configuration Support. After doing that the game works perfectly.

Worked for me by activating Steam Big Picture and then ingame choose the Controller Pre-Configuration in Controller settings

I solve the same problem in one afternoon you have to go into the Steam Big Picture mod

1 - Controller settings
2- tick the breakers Buton steam guide ✔️
3- tick the case assistance configuration Xbox / ps4 ✔️
4- tick Generic configuration assistance ✔️
5- launch the games ah from the steam big picture mod

Idk why, buts its not working for me. I'm using a nintendo pro controller via bluetooth. I went into the general controller settings and checked generic gamepad configuration support. Plz help!

I had the same symptoms, just fixed my issue. For me it turned out that a joystick i use for flying in other games was plugged in and was taking priority over my controller. Unplugged my flying joystick and everything worked great.

I ended up fixing the issue by plugging in a XBox 360 controller directly. I normally use an Xbox one blue tooth controller. Due to my setup, I had to plug in both directly via usb. Using the older controller causes no issues. The XBox one controller ends up using the wrong button commands even if you go through the configuration.
