Is Rockman 8 the worst of the series?
It's very childish. The sound effects, the stages, the enemies, everything feels like it came straight out of a cartoon for little kids.

For gameplay, it's probably the worst and most annoying Rockman from 1-10. Instead of being a normal platformer where you run, jump, slide, and shoot things with your buster like in other games, in 8 all the stages are so gimmicky like you have to ride a snowboard, a moving platform on lava, a toy train, walking time bombs, and all the other stuffs you can ride in this damn game. And some stage even turned into a bullet hell game where you ride on Rush for the entire stage.

The voice acting is complete garbage, even in Japanese.

And I noticed that Rockman calls himself "boku" and calls his rival (Forte) "kimi".

Who the hell calls his enemy "kimi"? How can you be taken seriously?

Right?
the voice acting is not the best but, that is not the worst. the worst is the extreme difficulty of some of the stages. i suppose they could add an easy difficulty that skips the difficult areas. megaman 7 was the only original series megaman game released on the super nintendo before the playstation appeared. the next megaman game release used the megaman 8 engine.

In my opinion, 8 is not the worst by far. Maybe it's too much on the easy side, but is colorful and a good starting point for newcomers. IMOO, the ranking of classic MegaMan should be

3 > 9 > 2 > 4 > 10 > 6 > 8 > &B > 7 > 5 > 1

1 hasn't aged well and it shows. 5 is so low because it has the WORST arsenal in the entire series. 7 feels cluncky to me; Rock's sprite it's too big for the level design and I hate the delay in the charge shot.
are you insane? megaman 8 is insanely difficult, so much that nobody gets through frost man`s stage without save states. megaman 5 however might be just as bad as save states is a must there as well along with megaman 6. same problem with megaman and bass. megaman 9 and 10 was much easier.

... Is this a serious post? Because, if you think that way you must be really bad at platformers. I could easily beat Frost Man's stage back in my PS1 and did it again in this compilation. No savestates used. Is not that bad, it doesn't require insane reflexes to do it.

Mega Man 5 is, in no way, one of the most difficult game in the series. 6 is one of the easier ones. Yeah, M&B is really dffficult, but I can beat it with both characters and never use savestates.

Maybe... you should try to get good.

Megaman and Bass is the worst as its hard for all the wrong reasons. The levels are made for bass with little concern for Megaman, King stage 2 is awful due to having too many hard bosses in one bullcrap level, and the game is bullcrap even with Bass.

"Maybe you should try to get good" yeah no. That game is hard for all the wrong reasons as I have stated above. I don't mind a challenge and I am quite good at megaman games (just did a buster only mmx run), but Megaman and Bass is madness.
true, megaman and bass is difficult. one of the bosses requires luck to beat.

I wouldn't say it is madness especially with its set of weapons which are all pretty useful. However it is easily the hardest in the classic and one of the hardest in the franchise (the platformers anyway).

The game has no freedom , you pretty much have to start with Cold Man and follow a certain order. In other megaman games while yes people always did follow the order of their choosing , you never had to.

For example in megaman 9 , I go for Concrete man , Than hornet man and then start the weakness order (mostly due to my way of playing stages). Or in 10 , Sheep or Pump , then blade , then Chill or nitro or solar , then whatever I feel like :D

Also not having energy thanks and a proper rush coil and jet (they probably wouldn't help with that level design now that I think about it) on top of other things yeah.

But it still does have good controls and weapons which are really useful in stages and not just bosses so I wouldn't call it madness. Really hard and kinda bs at times but not madness.

it is possible to start with either cold man, astro man or ground man.

I would call King stage 2 madness. Its not as bad with bass, but having to fight 3 hard bosses before the final king tank is insanity. I remember getting up to the second king tank then giving up.

Who would even try to beat astro man first. Haven't tried ground man first, but cold mans stage is easier.

I will disagree there to me king tanks are fine. King tank 2 I especially love actually. The first one kinda drags but the second one is great.
Nacht der Frösche Aug 19, 2018 @ 11:18pm
They wouldn't be bad if the whole level was its own castle. What I mean is have 4 king levels with each boss ending in a single king tank then for stage 3 have king and stage 4 could see you chasing king down and fighting the final king tank boss.
megaman 8 and megaman and bass reverted a change added in megaman 2 by removing recovery items. i never got past the first wily stage in megaman 8 because i ran of energy(either for mega ball or life).
