Game not loading after 9 hours on campaign
Dear Devs.

I have completed 9 hours on a campaign B128.7. I have been saving regularly and have had to load saves a number of times. This all worked fine, but there seems to be a point where the save file becomes corrupt after a number of hours/upgrades/experience/i don't know. I can load older save games but not any of the last few. As i cannot load them, i have no way to send the info via F11.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

HI,

Shut down your computer and try again.

Cheers Ruby

Thanks for the answer @ruby, tried that and did not work. Keeps crashing on loading... Any other ideas? Already tried verifying the integrity of the files and loading from within a new game.

For your information, sometimes the game just hangs (black screen and not responding in task manager) and sometimes it completely crashes.

Another interesting note is that when the game is not responding, with black screen, memory usage in taskmanager keeps going up from around 3.900MB. Atm 5.800MB and climbing.

Thx and keep up the good work!

I'll give you an advice, to do separate saves after every/ater mission (before leaving base and after return to base). You wiil have no problems, until stable build comes, but that is a different story;).

Thanks for the advice, i have been doing exactly that and sometimes more often, but since i dont die every mission, i don-t try them all. Turns out that now, the last file that works, is going back 4 hours of gameplay!

I have only had one game loading issue since B122. That was because I needed to start a new game after a major update. When starting a new game I keep no more than 3 "save files" and overwrite them with progress. Right now only I have B128-1, B128-2 & the default quick save. After progress, I save/overwrite one of the existing files. For me, I don't want to keep a zillion save files. *** No problems here ***

Same issue here.
Several savegames crashing the game. Earlier savegames work fine.
I'm getting a graphics driver crash while it happens. Yes, my drivers are up to date.
Vanilla game, no mods installed.

The output_log seems to indicate that we're not looking at a graphics issue per se, but rather the object causing the effects.circle not being saved or handled properly:

I am one of those Players that really like the game, and hardly say anything bad about it, but this game requires a lot of Ram.
It was using 11,000 MB of Ram on my System more than a year ago.
Probably using more now that it has been patched several times since then.

Yes, you need at minimum 16gb ram to run it smooth. The game is very hungry ;) but hardware is not always the reason for such behavior, like as Ruby said send a log if that save crash happens

I agree with you all, it's actually a very common issue with the Unity game engine.
I've gotten to the point where I'm seriously considering not buying any game that uses Unity.

However, this thread is about savegames failing to load.
I'd be happy to +1 any new thread on the insane memory consumption, but this particular crash has different reasons.
So please - new thread for that. Thanks!

Game freezes during the first training missions, at various moments in the progress.
Game still makes the sound when you click or hover over an option, but you can't interact with the game anymore.
If you check task manager, there's a Unity error process under the header of the game's process.

Why aren't you running on the latest patch? Start a new campaign and enjoy all the new features.
