As a workaround, you can fix it on a per-session basis by turning off or unplugging your gamepad after the game has been launched, then turning it back on or re-plugging it in.
- While your preferred gamepad is turned on and connected to Steam, select Earth's Dawn in your Library window and click on "Controller Configuration"
- In the controller configuration window, change the bindings for the LT/RT/L3/R3 to the keyboard keys that correspond to the respective in-game bindings.
- For example, in Earth's Dawn the LT and RT buttons are assigned to "Reflect" and "Boost" commands by default. The keyboard keys assigned to those same two commands are the D key for Reflect and the C key for Boost.
- So, in Steam's controller configuration window for Earth's Dawn, I changed the LT binding to the D keyboard key, and the RT binding to the C key. So now the triggers work as they should for me.
This does nothing to solve the problem.
steam://controllerconfig/494600/2204621433 Just click on 'Add Configuration' and you're set, thanks to Threeson.
Cheers!
The easiest way to do this is probably to just load Ghost's controller profile:
- First make sure your PS4 controller is turned on, and connected to Steam.
- Open a new tab in your computer's internet browser (Chrome/Firefox/Edge).
- Copy and paste this URL into the address bar of your internet browser, then press Enter:
steam://controllerconfig/494600/2204621433
- In the window that pops up, click "Apply Configuration" at the bottom.
That should be all you need to do.
Okay after trying it myself, I think I know what the problem is.
When the game starts, go into the control options menu and make that Gamepad(XInput) is selected at the top, not Gamepad(DS4) or Gamepad(D-Input). I'm assuming your problem is that you currently have the DS4 option selected.
Even though you are using a DS4 controller like me, it doesn't act like one when it is connected to Steam. Instead, Steam translates the inputs to the DS4 into XInput (XBox) commands.
The only thing you'll need to get used to is that the in-game controller icons will display XBox buttons instead of DS4 buttons. So when you see a green 'A' button on screen, that is the same button as 'X' on the DS4 gamepad.
Let me know if that fixes it.
Ah okay. Sorry that didn't work out. From the way you describe it, it sounds like the Unity engine is fighting with Steam over who gets to listen to your DS4 inputs.
I feel like I could probably fix it if I was sitting at your computer, but since that's not an option I can understand you wanting to refund the game.
