Seed of life?

What's the effect of the seeds of life?
The game claims a "surge of energy" can be felt, but I have no clue how it translates into gameplay. I do see a small kind of timer appearing, but I have no clue what the effect is.

Its not a timer, its like an extra bit of stamina that would be used should your wheel run out. I believe you can get up to a whole extra wheel from 6-8 seeds of life

I'd recommend keeping this item on you. On the way to the 7th boss, I found a note that places an X on your map. This takes you to a cave where you need to glide/grapple your way across. I have 3-4 stamina upgrades and can't reach the end due to running out of stamina. There is a note in the cave that suggests using a Seed of life to reach it. Not sure what is there though!

Yeah, I found that cave. I went through it already.
I placed all of my upgrades in stamina, and it should be enough to pass through... although I did eat a few seeds just to be sure.
At the end you get the chest piece of the knight armor
