Punch strength tips
Hi all, been enjoying the game for a few months now (little bits at a time). I just got through all the opponents on the "Endurance" difficulty but decided against attempting the final difficulty for now. Instead what I thought about doing is turning off the automatic multiplier setting and just set it at a hard 1x. What I found was that I can barely win against the sparring partner on normal since less than 10% of my punches actually do any damage. On the practice dummy, my hardest punch is only just north of 2700. What kind of strength target should I be aiming for to play on normal, and are there any tips for increasing punch strength other than building muscles irl?

Snapping/Whipping effect on your punches and using your body mechanics so you don't mess up your shoulders or hurt something in your arms.

What I would recommend is that you watch some boxing tutorials and try to pick up some good form, then play a couple rounds with the auto-adjust on while making sure you're only throwing with good form (don't worry about winning or even how much you're hurting your opponent - just don't get KOed). The auto-adjust will set your multiplier to a level that makes sense for the damage your punches were doing. You can then switch the auto-adjust off to keep it at those levels (or you can leave it on if you're disciplined about keeping good form).

"1x" is not intended to be the "real" value. The "real" value will vary from person to person, and the game doesn't know enough about you, nor does the game have enough information about any given punch you land to know what your "real" value should be. The only value that matters is that one that works well for you.

TotF favors punch velocity too highly because it doesn't know enough about the body mass you put into your punch. I'd focus on drilling your form and adjusting the game around that instead of adjusting yourself to try to get higher numbers in the game, as that's just going to teach you bad form.

I agree with this, especially the end. I find my hardest hits are backhands when I slap the opponent, but I strong suggest that you don't try to backhand your opponents in real life, or even in game.

OP, the game's damage calculation isn't perfect, remember that, as Ian said, if you want to get skilled at actual boxing, which will help in game, practice putting your mass behind hits, and having good form. For example, when you throw a cross, turn your hips to use your body mass, instead of using your shoulders and elbows purely, which may result in injury. To add to that, as well as really any hits, don't overextend your arms, I see lots of people with hurt elbows because they over extend.
