IMO It looks like they were try to cater to the players who said "the main game is too easy" and so they way over-compensated by making the DLCs ultra-hard.
Although I don't think they are "hard" in a legit sense of the word, because it's moreso that they are blatantly unfair. It's not like the enemies are outsmarting/outplaying the player; the enemies just have way more free resources that they - unlike the player - don't have to do any work or spend any time or resources to acquire.
What's hard for me is that I don't like to hurry and this latter mission wanted me to sprint like an idiot. I like to plan out my dungeon, develop my defences and sit back and enjoy.
It's not impossible just not fun at all.
Your dungeon heart is under attack.
Your outpost is under attack.
Worms have spread out.
Spiders have spread out.
Spiders are eating your turkeys.
Doorbell.
Your dog wants to get walked.
Your cat is reading your Garfield comics and taking ideas.
Your mother is calling.
Your uncle has rabies.
Not enough gold.
Not enough mana.
Not enough anything.
Quick, do all the things. Fast. Now. You suck too.
Love this narrator, makes me want to reinstall.
Not really.
