Light and Shadow: I need a Hero! achivement
I have played this mission 3 times now and I play it as slowly as possible i.e. rescuing Thalya at min 59:30 etc. and I never encounter enough heroes to kill that will trigger the achievement. What do I need to do to kill a 100 heroes on this mission?

I recall getting it rather easily. I was playing on hellish difficulty, so perhaps that's the key?

My best advice is to not destroy campements and to wait (don't forget to make some traps to welcome them)
Clean the map before to save Thalya.

I left the camp near Thanos alive and after rescuing Thalya I ran her down the path and left her outside the stairs to the dungeon. The mission doesn't end unless she enters the dungeon so heroes keep spawning and attacking through the last hero portal every 5ish minutes.

Slow but it worked and she is never in danger.

Clear the entire overworld, but leave all the camps up, shortly before the timer runs out you should have killed just enough heroes to get it.

The easiest way is to do killing spree AFTER freeing Thalia. Just do not teleport to Dungeon Heart but instead go by foot toward the dungeon entrance which you used at the start. Also, you shouldn't destroy hero camps while going with a rescue so new heroes will spawn endlessly.

You'll need to pass by one of those camps but just run through without engaging fight if you don't have evillness to level up Thalia. Anyway, once you pass that camp (or it's remains if you destroyed) Thalia will be safe from Tanos spell so just take your time, resurrect your army, leave dungeon by the entrance, level up Thalia and go hunting until you get achievement. Just don't let Thalia die nor go to dungeon - the other creeps can go as many times you want. :)

You can also get the speed achievement on the same approach as it's counted when you free Thalia, not when you finish the whole level.

I know this a bit necro. What I did on this campaign is simple focus on goblins, snake, demon and magic. The undead golem is a decent tank so you don't need Orcs. Orcs have low damage and quite expensive.
Orc purpose is to tank. Also there is a skill book for health regeneration in that campaign just give that skill book to that Golem.

Melee goblin have decent damage just have healer to heal them. Never upgrade them to their robot suits due it will lower their damage. Purpose of their robot suit is to increase their survivability and health which is not really needed due they have passive skill of concealment.

W/ Demons just have 2 Imp that gives you constant supply of mana then focus on magic. W/ enough income I started recruiting spider demon. Imp just die too fast if not micro correctly and that's a waste of mana.

My build order in that campaign I started focusing on getting workshop due I need it for mana room. Honestly you really don't need traps in the campaign just ignore the horde section just get the healers. I focus on demon tree research to get all magic ability and research room.
You could also go to undead tree to get the jail for more evil points and revival room to revive your high experience horde unit.

I did this campaign about 25 min in normal difficulty w/ this build order sadly I miss one of the achievement that I need to kill a ton of hero which is dumb.
