I don't think it's a good idea to have the narrator spam the same voice line for every single wave. If he did, that would get real annoying, real fast.
But maybe they could make the enemy waves more prominent on the mini map, like have flashing beacon waves (like how a radar looks) emanate from them so that you will see them right away if you look at the mini map.
For the narrator, it doesnt have to be a long message, a short line like 'enemies entered' could do enough. And i would put it as a seperate setting in the config, so only those who want the notification get them. I can imagine that better players dont need these notifications as much, yet still like the chatyness of the narrator.
Or maybe as you said a completely diffirent notification. This could be a diffirent sound, a top right icon next to thalya, some interface blinking. Maybe even being able to set notification markers yourself which causes the narrator to talk? Or even a global effect in the dungeon simmilar to the hammers in one of the mission (although not as obvious as the hammer as that surely would be anoying).
I would definitely like a better notification. And i dont realy care which it is, as long as its effective. Its quite frustrating to lose because you noticed an army too late because the announcer remained silent for a minute.
