Clash of Gods Skirmish maps on Diabolical are really good.
My normal diabolical skirmish strategies didn't quite work. Admittedly the maps are a bit inconsistent in how hard they are and it's especially chancey when using low available resources because finding the gold and diamond veins quickly is quite critical.

The hardest time is the 30-35 minutes day. It seems like at least half a dozen large parties of mostly gilded heroes attack in rapid succession, even if the overworld has been completely conquered except for the boss (god forbid there are still towns left to spawn even more heroes). But if you can make it past 35 minutes then victory is pretty much assured, both because you can just go gank the boss that night, and because your creatures should be all lvl10 and you can spend all night preparing for the next day.

I've beaten it with demons and stockpiling like 6000 mana (triple mana shrines) so I can keep pummelling the heroes with spells all day long. Max charge Meteor Swarms are quite good at whittling down the life of large hero parties but at 400 mana a pop the mana infrastructure needs to be serious.

I've also beaten it with Gobbobus (about 12 Gobbobots, plus 2 Succubi), Gobbobots are very strong especially with their ability to grab new suits and Surge can turn losing battles into winning battles. The Succubi beguile any surviving Master Swordmen to stand around looking stupid and generate lots of mana for demon strength, magic room and meteor swarm - makes a huge difference to winning fights without relying on Surge, there's no real reason why a couple of Imps or Arachnids couldn't be used as mana slaves though I reckon Succubi offer a little more value. Gobbobot strategy also makes it easy to deploy some traps, the combination of a Flamer and Exploding Treasure Chest is nice, you place the ETC after the Flamer so the heroes all stand in the flames admiring the Chest, then once they're all bunched up nice and tight you drop the Gobbobot deathball on them and do a quick Meteor Swarm + Demon Strength. If you are Out Of Mana for Meteor Swarm you can explode the Chest instead. There's no real chance of the squishy heroes surviving the Stun + Gobbobot volley, not when the ETC has them all bunched up nice and tight so the gobbobot volleys hit all the heroes.

Succibi seems the most value of the demons for mana since they can also whip heroes into shape in the torture chamber. Of course the downside is that they rather do that than work the mana but that's what locked doors are for.
