How does multiplayer/co-op work?

I was thinking of picking this game up with a friend but wanted to know how the above worked in game?

In game you will select either option and it will give you a 5 digit code that you give to who ever you want to play with. In co-op you and your teammate control the same dungeon, units, and resource pool. In multiplayer it is strictly pvp with a few gamemodes (only deathmatch avaliable on release). You cannot enter your opponent's dungeon in pvp, one of the reasons the dev's gave for this is magic traps would make it so neither player would be able to win once they are set up effectively.
