Also ive no doubt we are going to see the Kraken again at some point in the future whenever that might be but having it in the game for just one mission last rundown and now its just been snapped off into nothingness until whenever next time it shows up.. be it near the end of this rundown or 4+ rundowns away from now.. Guess if you only just bought the game sucks to be you you dont get to experience what I personally think was one of this games best levels to date.
At the end of the day I understand how the rundown works.. I just dont understand why the devs are locked in to the idea that people want previous content removed from the game.
1. All the people like me who bought it at release can't enjoy the previous rundown and story missions and
2. With the limited missions in the current rundown, there is NO way to collect all the cosmetics.
If the second point is addressed by allowing us to complete the same missions again and again to get cosmetics fine.
But yeah, i would like to see the old rundowns return.
nobody wants to see content removed from a game permanently
GTFO could easily double its player count if it allowed users to experience any rundown at any point
Out of curiosity, what do you base those calculations on?
Like watching through Breaking Bad but it starts at Jessie buying his old house.
I bought this game on release and put a few hours into it, I loved it, but I had some stuff happen and I haven't been able to game in quite a while. I came back and the game that I bought is gone, period. Replaced by a new game that I did not buy. Similar mechanics? Sure, but overall a different game. I have prior experience though, so maybe I can get into it. But this game is best played with friends. I don't have friends who own this/have played it. I have a few buddies that play survival horror games and shooter games with me, but they won't touch it because of the "rundown" system.
You can call it what it is, seasons. Seasons where the FOMO is the actual content itself.
I don't like FOMO in my games, most sane people don't. But when the game ITSELF is FOMO? That's the number one way to disorient and consequently turn away new players.
The fact that this game averages only in the triple digits for player count more often than not should be a clear giveaway.
This is a GOOD game. Hell, this is a GREAT game. This COULD be one of the best survival horror experiences on the market. But honestly, why even try to get back into it after all this time? The trailers that get me hyped show me content that isn't even in the game.
so I missed some story by starting to play now?
I believe the devs/writers/... simply created a universe, which they expand on or flesh out each rundown by giving the players vague lore dumps. Not a lot, but enough to keep players intrigued.
I played since R2 and still have no clue what is actually going on.
