Enemies take up to x2 damage when attacked from behind, proportional to the angle of your position relative to the victim. This applies to both melee and guns, but does not work with turrets.
The bonus damage from behind stacks with headshot damage, if applicable, for extremely high critical damage. This is referred to by the community as "oci".
For example: the basic pistol can oneshot small melee sleepers to the back of the head because
[4.64 base damage] [x0.86 precision multi] [x2 from behind] [x3 to the head]
for a total of ~24 damage, against basic biter's 20 HP. So if you're using a pistol - be opportunistic and shoot any small guys currently looking away from you for a free oneshot kill. Actually just do that period with any small caliber weapons - ammo saved is ammo saved.
2) You have to understand the terminals and how to use them - they are the most reliable way to make sure you never miss supplies in the area, which is often why new people die - by simply running out of supplies because they didn't find any.
Way too often i've seen even experienced squads simply walking by a locker without noticing it, only to find out there was x4 ammo inside. Also those lockers are often well hidden in some dark corner, so always double check.
The most basic command for that is
LIST RES ZONE_XXX
where XXX - number of the zone you are interested in. "RES" is short for "resources" - an actual tag the terminal uses, and as such this command will pick up anything that counts as that including ammo, meds, tool supply and i think some other things.
3) You have the tools - USE THEM.
Do not just start alarm scans without any preparation - this is not going to work out for you unless you're some kind of combat progeny.
If you have cfoam - reinforce the doors you suspect will be broken.
If you have mines - mine those same doors too.
If you have turrets - place them where enemies are most likely to come from.
Hell, i've found that running 3 turrets is very liberating as you are no longer dependent on door gods for survival - just place them at different corners and angles and they will soften up incoming waves to the point that finishing the rest is of no problem.
2. hel shotgun bad
Thanks for the tips guys! Gonna try changing my loadout
For discussion starter, 'LIST U E_#" is much simpler and faster, lists helpful items such as keys, HSUs and resources. Exclusions include IDs. LIST RES can be shortened to LIST ES E_#.
Additionally, there are commands such as
Basic and special commands are displayed on terminals if executing "COMMANDS"
You can use CTRL + A then BACKSPACE to delete everything typed at once rather than holding down BACKSPACE. TAB can be used to autocomplete commands like typing "P[TAB] A[TAB]_320" to get PING AMMOPACK_320. Using your keyboard's up arrow, you can autofill previously executed commands
Just for goofs, CTRL + ENTER creates new lines on the terminal that serve no function and will render any command useless if making one. Typing CLS at the last code of an uplink will skip the wait and finish it faster. Upon going to a terminal it will likely display the info "Welcome to Terminal ###, located in Zone ###. They will also provide you with total logs in a terminal. If a terminal only has 1 log, you can ignore it. If it has 2 or greater, it may have something useful such as a key part or whole, or reactor code part or whole. They may also have logs if you wish to get the achievement of 100% log collection.
If you want to know the zone you are in and the information is not present automatically, such as in reactor terminals, type INFO and it will give it to you.
THIS. All day. Play with a FULL squad. Talk your buddies into playing the game. Bots SUCK for harder stages. Also, if you accidentally alert a biter or another mob the bots WILL SHOOT instead of going for the silent weapon kill quickly. That, in turn, alerts every mob on the level to your location and then it's just gonna suck for you.
Definitely FIND people to play with . The Discord is AWESOME for having vet players show you the ropes and give you the RIGHT advice to make future endeavors worth your time.
The bots shooting when you mess up in stealth do not wake any sleepers up. Only players noise will wake them up. Trust me, I and a friend have completed 3 rundowns with 2 bots. But yes it is really anoying because that makes them eat all the ammo packs.
