Small Red Dots On Biotracker

So... sometimes I find small red dots on my biotracker. Not the big moving blobs of scouts, but small diamond shapes. They sometimes seem to track directly to sleepers, but also sometimes seem to be in impossible, outside of the level spaces.
There is nothing about it on the wiki, and the fact that they are diamond shaped makes me doubt it's a bug. Someone had to author those sprites.
