its really stupid could've easily beat the mission if the bots would've used their guns. massive waste of time
They'll either just not use their guns or waste ammo trying to shoot through doors or at enemies you could've melee'd. On top of that, they often phase through doors/go into rooms that you were closing, getting them stuck on the other side as they freak out and try to find a way back to you. Word of advice? Never give them a fog turbine, they WILL get you killed if that happens.
On the flip side, they're extra guns which is always helpful. They don't alert enemies, they can't get infected, their gunfire doesn't alert things so if they decide to shoot while you're stealthing, you're safe and they'll help with scans, if you're doing scans yourself anyway. And you can order them to pickup objective items, stuff that you can't shoot and run with like canisters and you can order them to put down their sentries or mines.
The downside is, you cant let them pick certain items(except mission items) , cant stop them using items automatically on team members(especially sterilization pack), and the possibility that they can TK you with shotguns.
But there are many limitations with bots to clear every mission.
Some of them requires more than just bots to clear.
New player here. Seems fine, the bots are some of the least crappy I've come across.
The onboarding, however, is another story. I don't have time to sit around working stuff out anymore, especially from some game that *claims* it's complete. I could do that extra homework or I could play another game that just TELLS me thing I need to know.
I'm happy to work stuff out, but only if the underlying logic is explained. That didn't happen at all here. Why do we need to stand in different spots across the room? Why can't we just hack every single door?
What *else* will I die from that the game didn't teach me about? There's 'You should have know better' and then there's 'dirty pool'. Not once have I died in this game and it felt fair. Not ONCE.
I want to like this game. I like the idea of it. On paper it's ideal for me. But the way the ideas are implemented make it clear to me that I'm not the target demographic, which confuses me.
I'll give it this much: It's perfectly titled.
Bots are actually extremely good considering how challenging this game is.
If you run R6 the bots are capable of doing all the main missions with almost no issues, this is the rundown they were first added into, the rest of the game is a dice roll.
They are better than most players with instant reaction times, no clip and aimbot.
This game is tough but perfectly fair...the tutorial is god awful though and developers really need to reach out to the more experienced player base to help draft up a non garbage tutorial stage.
I could go on. This game isn't 'perfectly fair', it's difficulty is just... lazy. Just tons of enemies, little resources and lots and lots of hurdles. All over a 1 hour match which you're forced to do all over again if you fail. And with how barebones and flawed this game is, I'm led to believe that you're made to bash your head against that brick wall over and over again because if the game wasn't 'hardcore' then everyone would beat it in like 12 hours and never touch it again. This game isn't perfectly fair, I don't know where you get that idea, but I've played it long enough for myself and it's downright dirty how it can screw you over at times, be it because of a bug that the devs STILL haven't fixed even after the game was 'finished' or because of bullcrap design and enemy spawns.
I got up to a D1 mission I believe before I took a break to play more of my other games. Can't recall off the top of my head which one but the level is mainly red with a few pitch black enemies spread across it. The only reason I even failed it was because most of the security checks were given to us on the bottom layer but then the last one was on a bridge where the enemies spawned and I forgot to take the turret with me to re-place it.
So yeah they're serviceable, also I do vaguely recall thinking that the C1 mission where you recharge generators would be a nightmare due to bots but they held their own, I didn't even follow some youtube dudes recommended chokepoints and just hung out by the main gen.
So as for tips you need to make sure the bots weapons have high ammo capacity, they can burn through it quite fast and you want to make the most of any meagre resupplies you give them. Also if one of them starts shooting in a room just let them have at it, for all intents and purposes the bots and their weapons could be considered invisible to enemies in a stealth enviroment, if you react and start running or shoot then the room often goes berserk.
That's all I have to type on this. There is a better bots mod over on r2modman with some minor changes to how they function but yeah I recommend it, thumbs up for mod author.
If you hit a wall with them install this to stop them from suicide charging enemys, have them actually carry objectives during combat, open lockers on their own, and optionally give them perfect accuracy
https://gtfo.thunderstore.io/package/easternunit100/BetterBots/
though id recommend holding off on using it until D tier missions as they will steamroll through most below that
(Almost beaten an E tier with them)
Downside is they dont help you stealth kill so clearing rooms can take much longer than with human allies. Upside is that if you messup on stealth the bots instantly melee any agrroed sleepers and will typically correct the situation.
They seem to randomly attempt to save ammo sometimes and like 2 of the bots will use melee during loud combat. And just like L4D bots , if someone goes down they will run over to rescue regardless of the perils and mostly likely also end up going down.
But so far ive been able to clear the first 2 missions with them and nearly the 3rd.
all after that is just a gg.
bots have insanly good aim so thay can easly provide good fire support(all tho they still do some stupid ♥♥♥♥ sometimes)
most of the time bots become useless when you need to do some extra ♥♥♥♥(like moving multiple objects, split , working aroud items, fighting bosses)
so they good as bots but bad as teammates when real game coming in(late B missions and above)
