GTFO
My thoughts on GTFO. I hope for a Sequel/Prequel or an expansion pack
This is not a bashing of the game thread. Like I legitimately love this game despite having so much rage for it lol. I have over 2600 hours invested in this game. In my opinion, the game has so much potential. It's a game unlike anything I've ever seen and played. The game is 1, limited to the game engine, and creative direction. Unity works fine in some games and terrible in others. I would love to see a GTFO sequel or Prequel, I would pay full game prices and would support it by buying expansions, add ons, and cosmetics. That is what I have done for Generation Zero.

Here are my thoughts and this is from the perspective of a moderate level fan of this game. I am NOT a pro in this game. I know some of these suggestion can be achieved with mods but the average player or even moderate players like me, dont want to have to download mods.

1, Lack of in game guide/trainings. We have it now but wasnt always a thing.
2, and this one is important, lack of real multiplayer support. What we have now lacks the ability to kick someone, the ability to score a player to indicate, yes, F9zSlavik is a good player to play with, and then some, etc
3, Removing Rundowns. Although this could be debatable, ya could of left just the rundowns that had the story.
4, the story. it lacked for the first 5 Rundowns. There were some aspects of it but it didn't center around the game until Rundown 6. I am invested in it and wish I had more content.
5, The lack of an early check point system for earlier run downs. I would settle for having checkpoint on C levels and above. It just gets real old to have to play a 2 hour map over and over.
6, The ability to nerf the game for new or for novice aka casual players.
7, Multiplayer SCALING! Generation Zero has multiplayer scaling, I believe Sons Of The Forest has it too. Why not introduce that in GTFO? And like in Gen Zero, have the ability to modify it. This would be huge. Make it near impossible, but not unbeatable.
8, The ability to stack items man. Why make it so difficult to have to back track all the way to X zone just to get a time 1 or times 2 ammo pack or health pack when you could just stacked it or, have the ability to move items around strategically.
9, Glitches, I get it, all games have it, but when you dont have a save game feature, glitches can ruin an entire session in which someone could of been in it for hours. Ive had it happen multiple times in a row in both single player and multiplayer. Although I did notice that in Rundown 8, I havent encounter any glitches.
10 Game mechanic, i LOVE IT, but it can be improved and expanded. But I think this just goes back to a limited game engine.
11, i want to support this game. Why not have a store where you can buy cosmetics? Nothing insanely expensive of course, but just to keep money flowing in for you guys. Or expansion packs. Or like kits that you can buy. Some of this is well implemented in Generation Zero.

12- a battlepass, just get with the times already
13. A leveling system, there's no progression in the game
All these braindead people in the comments are saying "get a battlepass in the game or an XP system" when in reality that will make people stay very far away from this game bc they dont want to spend extra money for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ season pass, when theres already so much content in the game, that having a battle pass would be entirely pointless...
Just leave this game alone, please. Take these ideas somewhere else, but not here.

i agree.

If the game is going to be difficult like it is now, maybe have the ability to upgrade systems, turrets, weapons, etc or expand more on the artifacts would be a better choice since its in the game already. Live service is a terrible model but in a way, that's what we have now but without having to pay. I think I would rather support the game by buy cosmetics, addons (See generation zero for an example), and there one more but I cant think of it at the moment. If the problem is player base, meaning not enough people buying it, then have the current player base support the game by doing what I just said. I thought about an RPG style leveling system but its dumb. I mean it works for generation zero, it MAY work similarly for gtfo but it would need to be implemented similarly and carefully. Personally, I like an old fashion shoot up like this game like it is now.
I just beat R8B4, and freak was it DIFFICULT. Expanding the artifact system would be nice to give a player a temporary edge. I restarted the check point so many times Bishop stop carrying weapons LOL. He served as the guy who carry stuff lol

i do agree that having a upgrade system would work wonderfully in this game, like imagine getting a set number of credits after every mission, then getting a bigger credit reward after completing a whole rundown, then you could use those credits to upgrade your weapons from base damage to maybe 25% more damage and 10% more ammo capacity? (maybe a Tier 1-5 Level system could work with this, you could make some nice builds). You would still have to use damage boosters to unlock their full potential. That would work beautifully.
But i wouldnt want to use real money to buy cosmetic items as they are already in-game and buying them would take away the use of the cosmetics as you need to complete difficult levels to earn them, as well as the rundown completion cosmetics, which would take away any challenge earned from them.

yea lol i use dauda for the carrying items, i found bishop to be excellent at biotracking enemies.
14. A mascot, gtfo needs to evolve and break into the mascot horror genre
Would love a sequel as the game is quite unique. Due to it's niche nature (just look at the twitch numbers for example..) I don't think it is very likely to happen though :(

It is like in most things in life (movies, music, art, etc.), the good stuff is not appreciated by the mainstream :D
gtfo or grind the fools over deserves soy of the year award...

Every game is a copy of a game. Grabbing elements of said game and this game and that game to make another game is NOT a bad thing. Napoleon Hill once said that there is nothing in this world that has been invented that's been perfected.

you really gotta appreciate what gtfo has accomplished here tho, which is to copy darktide cave gameplay years before darktide was even released, did they have some inside knowledge?? either way this game is truly ahead of its time, or it would be with a battlepass system atleast

Kinda wanna see you doing this "repetitive crouching" thing under error alarm on deeper levels. Also every game will be repetitive if you are playing first level over and over again, assuming you are doing exactly that, since literally every task is the same, as you say :golden:
