Are the Bio-Tracker's Small Red Dots a Bug or a Feature?
Hey there fellas, I've been runnin' the bio tracker for a time now and every now and then, I see small red dots in place of regular enemies.

Not to be confused with large red dots that denote enemies that are moving, these are small, very thin dots and I've only so far noticed them replacing the usual white dots, but very infrequently.

On average I see 1 or 2 of these small red dots per mission, and I haven't been able to discern a noticeable difference between the sleepers that are white dots or small red dots.

I've searched on the internet a bit, and while many people have been saying it is a bug, it seems to have been reported by a fair few amount of people from years ago, as there are a couple discussion posts asking and the general response is that they are bugs. I'm skeptical on this because it's been pretty commonly acknowledged by the community for a very long time (minimum 2 years based on this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/GTFO/comments/rgptcd/does_anyone_have_any_idea_what_these_tiny_read/).

I would've figured the developers would've fixed this by now since it's pretty common and with how long it's been around, so I'm wondering if there's more to it, as the commentor ZeOverlord on the reddit thread above says:

"Despite what many are saying, this is in fact not a bug. The small red dots indicate that an enemy is particularly sensitive, and significantly more prone to waking up as a result of your actions.
I have no idea why it's not mentioned anywhere on the wiki or documented at all for that matter, but this is a known feature and is 100% intentional.
To clarify, White Dots are dormant sleepers, large Red Dots are active (moving) enemies, and small Red Dots are sleeping enemies who are sensitive and aggro easily."

I'd like to believe this but there is a disproportionate amount of people saying it's a bug, and it is neither on the wiki as a feature or a bug, so there is an odd amount of obscurity on this issue.

Well, not exactly the well-informed answer I was looking for, but it's a start

The devs are known for not fixing bugs. They have not fixed the checkpoint bugs (run ending bugs!) since december 2021 when they got introduced.
Liquid bug was there since launch of Early Acces iirc and still has not been fixed.
This is a well known bug that you can add to the very long list of not fixed/not gonna be fixed bugs.

That reddit user is on some heavy copium.

Oh, I see. That solves the whole 'why devs havent fixed this' issue I was confused about. Thanks for that, it being a bug makes alotta sense now.

Guessing and overwhelming number of people asked for checkpoints. Which are bugged. At the same time an overwhelming numbers people asked for all the runs be made available.

Still haven't finished all the runs. Not trying to make excuses for anyone. But that seems highly plausible.

Bugs after content?

I've been playing for about 3 weeks now with a group of 4 pretty consistently. One time one guy crashed on a laptop. Zero bugs that I've encountered first hand.

Disclaimer : still on R1.

Okay, since I've ended up searching for this even a year and a half later and still not getting any conclusive answers, do you actually KNOW that this is a bug rather than a feature, besides "well the devs don't tend to fix bugs"? Because the one time me n friends have run into these red dots so far, they woke up very suddenly, so there seems to be some merit to the "sensitive" train of thought. Just to clarify, I've only just properly picked up this game, it's entirely possible it IS a bug and I don't know either way, but it would be nice to have something more concrete than "possibly" a bug.

Ask around on the official discord. it's well known to be a visual bug

After asking on the Discord, I'm gonna post this here for anyone else curious: It is literally a one-line bug caused by moving three rooms away from enemies on your scanner. They get unloaded but not properly, so they bug and show a small red dot. There's a mod on Thunderstore to fix it, if it bothers you, but room layouts beyond R1 are less likely to reproduce it.

Yeah we've got an entire thread about it on the discord
It's just colloquially known as bio bug
