Is it just me or are lock melters completely useless?

I don't have many hours on the game but from what i've experienced so far everyone would rather keep their inventory empty than to pick up a lock melter, I havent seen anyone use them so i'm wondering if there is a strategic way to use them that im missing? It looks like everyone just beats on the locks with a fully charged melee strike....so what gives?

The lock melter is silent to the sleepers.

There are 2 types of locks not just the padlock but also the hacking one, previously the lock melters were use full because they were silent and you could open locks without having to kill sleepers if you didn't wanna bonk them in a optional area or just skip the hacking mini game if you didn't wanna do them. However now with the new boosters added in R5 some of them make hacking harder for who ever uses them, Some boosters take about 30% or more and if you have more then one booster with negative hacking skill it's even worse. So lock melters are more use full now then before thanks to some of the new stuff in R5.

lock melter can save time to quickly open locked boxes, or can open boxes silently. I'd say it's pretty cool.

Overall, I find flashlight and glow sticks less useful.

Certainly not the most used, but still it's usefull when your time is limited but you still need to loot fast, like reactor step, or when you just need one key or something in a locker and needs to be stealthy.

Lock melter's biggest issue is it being the most situational tool ever, and usually you wan't to carry something you are sure to find good use. And if actually finding a good spot for some stealth lock melting action, you might ask yourself "Do I want to backpedal to that remote locker and retrieve the melter, or just blaze through by other means?"

I would at least broaden the utility possibilities for the melter

i will backtrack for a melter if we want to open a box in stealth and not wake up the room.
