If it was just a game in VR, then VorpX works out for me.
As an example, I was already playing a VR version of Doom 3 BFG (quite good, even if not graphically advanced), which required a shortcut on my desktop. Then I installed VorpX, and then next time I tried the Doom 3 BFG VR game, it was like VorpX tried to take over form Steam.
I know it sounds weird, but that is what it looks like.
After that, I was afraid VorpX was going to break something in VR for me, so I stopped using it.
I was probably an idiot in how I used it, but I wanted to try VorpX on games like Dishonored, Bioshock, and Star Wars Battlefront.
Id forgot about the D3 BFG VR mod, a worthy alternative to this in some ways. You can ramp the graphics up some with the texture packs.
Individual third party mods it in.
Devs shut it down?
Well. I was thinking of getting GTFO as it looked fun and I liked the tense moody atmosphere and brutal unforgiving gameplay if you mess up but....yeah. That kind of behavior I find pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Even before I knew it had a VR mod I was interested in getting it and the VR was a huge recent surprise/bonus to me but if they're deliberately shutting down a mod that did nothing harmful and only brought in more people? Gonna pass up on it. Not the kind of dev team I wanna back with my wallet.
If they have another reason for disabling it or making preventative measures against modding VR into their game? I'd love to hear it. Game companies that lack communication with their customers and player-base are always shady to me.
please bring back VR to this game , cause its so much better to play and such a incredible immersive experience.
just look at phasmaphobia , its desktop and VR crossplay developed by 1 guy and its a huge hit on steam for example ( right now number 1 on global top sellers ! )
+1 VR

And I may not be at all familiar with this programming crap, but considering it was done by one person who is passionate about the game, the developers could simply implement this very easily by comparison.
And as we've seen, the engine that this game runs on is VR friendly.
Come on developers, no excuses, no more of this "We have no plan to implement it"
Not having a plan to implement VR into a FPS which in general is very VR friendly is ridiculous.
In the dark ages of VR, we only had two reselling-overpriced versions of Skyrim and Fallout 4 that people like me admittedly wasted our money on.
DLC content not integrated, aside from aiming there is absolutely no reason to have the VR motion controllers.
But these are only huge negatives because they charged for a separate version of their game that cost way more than the default version with much less.
By implementing VR to this unique and very atmospheric rich game as an added bonus... You guys are gonna be printing money, I guarantee it.
It doesn't matter how poorly implemented the controls are at first, just having it as a free option like in PayDay 2, The Forest, and No Man's Sky immediately makes it better than all the other VR games, because the players are not segregated from each other and it's not charged separately.
I'm one of those people that really want to drop myself inside such scary atmosphere, I want to jump into this game in VR, make it an option and word will quickly spread and BOOM! profit.
Please developers... MAKE IT PART OF THE PLAN NOW!!!
It's a win win for both sides, you can quote me on that.
+1 VR!
But if you really don't like the idea of non-official VR support, well then I'm assuming you guys want the real stuff. Look, how do you force a developer who does not play VR, to work on a VR title? The mod itself was nice, but it was another "PC to VR port", like how PAYDAY 2 VR worked you can't interact with the world, your weapons are glued to your hand, no physics, real VR games are made from the ground up to be like that.
I tried the VR mod, and yeah this is the kind of game that would be awesome for VR. I'm 100% for official modding support, and then for some passionate guy making a VR mod for it, but I just can't see how the devs would add VR to the game. Because that would be an additional workload, to not completely break the VR part of the game with every update.
Have the developers work alongside the "passionate fan" who created the mod in the first place, the person who is all too familiar with it and HAS done it all by himself, now only with the help and support of the devs, simple.
Developer support of VR would be wonderful, but current feedback seems to indicate it is not really on their radar at this point in time. I hope they change their mind in the future, but I have no idea of what resources it would require, so I think the developer deserve some benefit of the doubt.
As an alternative, I wonder if the Developers would be open to allowing a limited Workshop option for the game, allowing for something like the VR option to be 'developer-supported', and that is something purely optional for anyone to try (if for no other reason, as far as I know, outside of some slowness in typing with a virtual keyboard, a VR player doesn't seem to have any deficiencies that makes a mission impossible to accomplish; that is all based on the ability of 4 people to work together).
