Regarding the cosmetics only statement
This question is for the devs.

In one of your videos introducing the game one of the things mentioned is to allow for continued support you may plan to have little 'Support the developer packs' which contain cosmetic only items.

This is a claim or promise that has been made by game makers in the past. A couple of examples we've seen is killing floor 2, which not only has cosmetics but also decided to start double dipping and selling weapons for 10 bucks a pop. Fallout 76 promised cosmetics only, and anyone who likes to watch a car wreck knows whats happening with that mess of a game.

It honestly feels like saying cosmetics only is a great way to get your foot in the door with players, then later down the road make a public statement along the lines of "Hey we need additional funding for continued support so we need to add premium items, weapons or whatever."

What assurances are you able to provide current and potential players that you won't do something like this?

The only assurance they can really give you, is their word. And you can't really do anything but take it or leave it.

Unless there's something I'm missing here, logic dictates that there isn't much point to this thread. You don't want the developers to later on go back on a statement that they'll never do something. There is no assurance they, or anyone, can give you that isn't simply based on trust or assumption, outside of a legally binding statement that allows you to sue them if they break their word.

There's nothing to stop them from doing what they say they won't, and there's no assurance that can be granted to you that would mean anything or have any consequences. Make whatever resulting decision you want based on this, but there wasn't really any point in even asking the question.

Yeah basically this. This is the whole answer to the thread.

OP, can you more specifically define what your standard for proof would be from the devs? Your concerns are totally valid, and I have them too, but asking for "assurances" isn't really helpful. You either take them at their word or you don't. The only way to see if they're trustworthy is to wait until they either break their word or they don't.
After the Payday 2 drills/safes thing I'd almost have the same worry. But I also have some faith in Ulf since he left Overkill pretty early on in PD2's lifecycle, presumably for a reason.
