Sentry guns are invincible?
I'm new to this game, so when I had to hold them off I was like ok, close door, reinforce door, put turrets.

Then we played with another guy who told us to put the sentry's outside, by the time they broke the door there was nearly no monster alive, so it was piece of cake.

So here's the thing, shouldn't turrets get focused and destroyed? Otherwise I feel you can cheese a bit with this tactic.

They're invincible but they can run out of ammo. You're not wrong they can make alarm doors considerably easier, and help to conserve primary & special ammo.

They are still balanced with the other tools. The best setup usually for a single door is 1-2 sentry, cfoamed door and ~1-2 mines on the door. When there are multiple doors they can break through (e.g. R3C1 first alarm), 1/sentry per door and cfoam & mine both doors. So there's a balance.

The game has some element of chance given it's RNG nature, And there is no guarantee of finding enough special ammo to cheese every wave anyway, And making it so the turrets don't just explode near the landmines is just common sense.

Because it has limited ammo. Tools are made for their purpose. One trip mine is enough to wipe majority of wave as well so they are balanced.

What you call "cheese" in making optimal use of the tools becomes necessity on harder levels. Of course your sentries are sweeping the floor with them, you're on the easiest tier. It's not supposed to be hard. In the future, using too many sentries will either starve you of tool refill when you really need it or there will be so much to handle that your sentries will only soften the blow.

cheese is cheese.

It's not really cheese. Cheese is breaking the game so that enemies get stuck, can't reach you, etc. You might as well say that playing the game to win is cheese.

so then cannon rushing in sc2 isnt cheese lol and btw cannon rush doesnt break the game, there are several instances of where cheese doesnt break the game. no cheese doesnt not mean glitch and stuff like that but it can. cheese usually is a legit but cheap tactic, lazy and easy. and no im a try hard and i dont cheese. trying to win legit vs taking a garbage win. id rather lose than hit an ez button.

In a gaming scene the word cheese is used to describe strategies or ways of playing that are really powerful and do not require much skill from the players side at the same time. The term is widely used both in video games and tabletop games alike

btw betas who try to win cheese cuz they know that they are beta, alphas dont cuz they would rather rekt u with skill. and cheese usually doesnt work alphas. betas are desperate people who will say and do anything to get their way and they typically dont get there way. btw i never said sentry guns is the most cheesy thing u can do. but at the end of the day cheese is cheese.

hes just stating a fact, the strategy is cheese. it does not mean you cant use it. nor does it mean its not a good strategy.

After playing a bit more (Currently on A3) I see that while this tactic can make an encounter easy, you run out of tool ammo too quickly on some scenarios which discourages using this approach.
