They're good at different things.
All of the primary weapons are good against small enemies.
The pistol has a fast reload and gains a decent amount from ammopacks.
The bullpup is new and pretty popular, it has high ROF with a low recoil.
The SMG is good at close range and staggers enemies. It's also popular.
The Carbine has burst fire and is like the mid-range smg. It's like a mix of the burst rifle & machine pistol from last rundown.
The DMR has a scope for long range, no damage fall-off and 1 hits shooters in the head.
The assault rifle is similar to the new bullpup with a lower magsize but faster reload iirc.
The standard rifle has a high magsize and kills in 2 headshots (or less).
Some of the above can deal more overall kills at 100% ammo, but the amount they gain from each ammopack, and the amount they can kill in one magazine are all balanced, so there is no best primary weapon.
All of the special weapons gain a lot from ammopacks and are generally stronger than the primaries, good vs large enemies. You want to use them frequently to keep your ammo count balanced between primary & secondary.
The shotgun kills one-two enemies at mid-range per shot while damaging others.
The combat shotgun has a high ROF, magsize and is fully automatic if necessary. Short range.
The revolver kills small enemies in one headshot with a decent reload speed. Gains 3 mags/pack use.
The burst cannon has a short spin up and is good against large enemies and in general.
The hel gun pierces enemies and gains a decent amount from ammopacks.
The sniper rifle has a long ranged scope and very high damage, can one shot (almost) any enemy in the right circumstances, but has low ammo. It can be very helpful.
The hel rifle pierces enemies and can kill a scout with a headshot from any angle.
Take your pick :)
Special: Combat shotgun, sniper rifle (1 per squad), revolver
Tool: shotgun sentry for blind pick, depending on situation other options may be more useful.
Everything else not listed is generally worse, being subpar or just bad.
