only this rundown, but before it was something else! maybe later it will be harder.

They are trying to strive for a balance. R2 was ridiculous. R1 the final stages were ridiculous. R3 you can lose if you are stupid but there is still plenty of challenge so far.

Rundown 2 was not ridiculous. Rundown 2 was a masterpiece man. The game is meant to be brutal is Rundown 2 was just that.

easy than R2 but harder than R1

No it wasn't, it's one of the reasons why the game died and it's population withered.

I'm all for brutally difficult games, but difficult games without proper multiplayer difficulty scaling just lead to pure frustration.

It's already very hard to muster a 4 man team of competent players let alone sitting through hours of gaming sessions just to beat 1 level. Not only that but R2 on higher levels just take TOO LONG to beat, like D1/E1 literally take like 2-3 hours to complete. It's ridiculous, who fooking has time for that? It was extremely exhausting just to try and beat one level.

I know many of the hardcore pro players who beat the game within the first few days of a new update just stopped playing after a couple weeks. And so eventually, as the player base starts to dwindle, you start to see the norm of above average/decent players getting stuck unable to beat the last few levels because they simply couldn't find competent players to team up with. And this just leads to even more frustration because when people are stuck unable to beat the game themselves they are less likely willing to help other newcomers. Why would I even bother helping some noobie who never had the intention of beating the game, beat R2B1, for the hundredth time when it wouldn't have helped me beat D1-E1 anyway? Most pubs leave after a few runs so what's the point?

Eventually the player base just splintered and died out.
This is why, up until the end of Rundown 2's lifespan. You still see so many players haven't even gone past B1. Just look at Reddit and you would know what I'm talking about.

There's a reason why they had to nerf R2 at some point, all these difficulty means nothing for a game without multiplayer scaling if there wasn't a player base left to beat it.

I want to be able to beat the game by my own self, without having to deal with all this sh**t. Is having a solo difficulty too much to ask?

The game is not dead lmfao

And yes. it is too much to ask. This is a 4 player co-op game. You want a single player game go play a single player game. You don't see me barging in to Call of Duty and going "UGH IS A FISHING MINIGAME TOO MUCH TO ASK???".

The game is not dead, the game is not dying, the devs are doing fine, the game is selling well, and things are continuously improving over the course of a very well executed early access.

Just because you havent been explicitly catered to doesnt mean the project is a failure and the game is dead.

me and my friends cant even complete one and there are many times we have groups of 3 and still cant even beat one rundown because its so hard. we got fairly far in the 1st one but now we just play them just to see what they are like and just give up because we just cant win...

For the first times you need a mildly decent player to help you out, it will make it surprisingly easier and you will learn a lot. If you want send me a message and I can help you out. Btw, the game is balanced around 4 players, so with less people you're only making it harder.

the game should at least be possible with 2 people in the early stages not impossible if you dont have a halfway decent team to even win the first round. me and him have put in countless hours and have become really great but we cant always get 4 people to play and when the game is this hard it just turns people away. this is a GREAT game but a bit too hard to even be enjoyable

What level are you on? You don't need countless hours to be good at it, I have less than 100 hours and I started playing from R1. The maps and game is balanced around 4 people, your best bet is to keep contact with good teammates you had, so you don't have to wait a long time on the discord.

i had for people from the start of R1 and then we got to like level 4 or 5 in it and it got hard for some of them and they quit. now its just me and a friend and havent beaten anything really since. im still on the first one of this new rundown and probably will stay that way sadly and all because we dont have 4 people. i have like 140 hours in game. none of it matters because the game is quantity and not quality.....

I can help you if you want. There's no reason to do it with less than 4 if you don't know what you're doing. You just need to find more people to play the game with, they do have a lfg group. The first few levels are really easy, the important thing is to be willing to learn. Playing with the same people all the time won't help too much, try varying every once in a while.

i know how to play the game its just impossible to play with anything less than 4 people and to me thats just poor game design. i get the game may be super easy somehow to some which good on you i guess but being forced to have the numbers rather than being any good at the game is dumb.

The problem is that everything in the game is designed for 4 players. The map design and sleeper spawns are so that 4 players can sneak around, the alarm door positioning is made so that 4 players can do the alarm and defend. The whole game is designed around 4 players, they even increased sleeper's speed to deny kiting and doing it with less than 4 people. For now you should be able to find a full squad pretty easily since the new rundown released, so there are a lot of people looking for 4 players. You can still do it with less than 4 players, even alone it just requires more skill and you need to know what you're doing. Good luck for the future, you should be able to find a full squad during this time, though.

The fock does fishing minigame even have to do with Call of Duty? What kind of stupid analogy is that? Do you even know what you're talking about?

No it's not too not to ask. And this wasn't a cheap game to begin with. Killing Floor 2 had multiplayer scaling, Monster Hunter World had multiplayer scaling, Borderlands had multiplayer scaling, Risk of Pain had multiplayer scaling. I could go on forever.

If you don't believe me what I said was true just head over to steamdb and check the player population charts yourself, every update there's a spike in player count but if you didn't jump in on the action in the first couple weeks of a new update your chances of beating the game drastically lowers and I've already said that in my first post.

It took less than 2 weeks during R2 for the concurrent player population to drop to a little more than 1000, and by the time Rundown 2 ended the game barely had 800.

Don't get me wrong I love this game, I even have more play time than you. (I've already beaten all 3 rundowns). But that doesn't mean this game doesn't have a lot of problems. Nobody wants to be at the mercy of others every single time they play. R2 made me realize how incredibly frustrating it is just to look for good teammates to play with. There is a reason why the devs nerfed the difficulty, and there's a reason why R3 is easier than R2, the devs are actually catering to players like me, not you.

But it didn't have to be this way, having a multiplayer difficulty scaling would actually satisfy both hardcore players like you and me, you would be able to enjoy the brutal difficult like you wanted, and I can play solo or with 2 players without it being impossible. And it wouldn't even be difficult to implement, like all you have to do is adjust spawn count according to player numbers for a half-arrsed scaling system and that would already solve alot of frustration.

I'm glad they decided to do a 20% discount this time around for as long as half a month, and I'm really enjoying the new rundown, especially the lengths of each levels are in a really good spot right now. D1's difficulty takes a lot more work than mere spawn number tweaks though, the new boss enemy has really crappy pathing AI, right now they're just too stupid and easily exploited.

Overall the game is pretty vitalized right now thanks to the sale and new update, I'm enjoying this new rundown much more than the previous one which was just loads of frustration. Well we'll see how long it can last this time around.
