I tried to run GTFO for fun on my work laptop (Vega 8, appx. 100% faster than the HD 620) and it hits 480p30 by the skin of its teeth on lowest settings. This will be a literal slideshow if it even runs at all on the 620.
Windows 10
quad core i5 2.4ghz or equivalent
gtx 1050ti or better (i have 1650)
16gb DDR5 Ram
ssd
and i still get frame drops sometimes, but it runs very well, and looks good.
but with the fogs & light, yeah, pretty sure you cant
more than 2h you cant refund
Hi could you guide me on which settings to adjust in the advance video & video settings to make it the lowest possible? Currently running on a laptop with a Vega 10 GPU. Sorry for the late comment & thanks!
If you're gonna try anyways (I see you own the game), I would do this:
1. Set the target framerate to 30FPS.
2. Turn V-Sync off, make sure game is using Exclusive Fullscreen.
3. Turn all video settings to the lowest possible, but NOT the field of view, max render queue frames, CPU culling workload, or resolution. Leave those alone for now.
4. NOW set resolution to 480p. Painful, yes, but it's the only way you're gonna get anything remotely stable. The reason why you do this last is because the menu becomes illegible at low resolutions.
5. You can use the Steam overlay's FPS counter to check whether you're holding 30FPS most of the time in-game. Once you're satisfied, quit the game and disable the Steam overlay completely. Might be able to squeeze another few frames out of that.
And of course, make sure your Radeon drivers are up to date and that nothing unnecessary and resource-hogging is running in the background. Good luck, let me know how it goes. :)
Thank you for the advice, it is much smoother now. But just 1 more question, will this setup affect the hardware on my laptop? Eg. like overheating and/or damage to components if i play for a prolonged period of time?
But mostly, I would use your common sense. If your laptop is scorching hot, obviously don't keep playing. Maybe give it a break or something between runs? Modern laptops usually shut themselves down once they hit a critical temperature, so you have some sort of safety net at least.
I'm glad the game is smooth for you! As the game gets closer to full release, I'm sure further optimizations will be implemented. Maybe, just MAYBE (don't get hopes too high up) you'll be able to push 720p30. If not, maybe it'll run at a locked 480p30 then. :)
