Sleeper progression states:
- sleeping: silent
- glowing: lit up, accompanied by croaking
- beating: glowing with a heavy heartbeat
- alerted: short phase where they turn red
- awake: glow is gone and they are pursuing/attacking you
Recommended action during these states:
- sleeping: move while crouched to prevent them triggering to a glowing state, walking is okay but you will force the glowing state if you get too close (~15ft)
- glowing: moving while crouching will trigger beating; walking will do this faster
- beating: don't move. In this sensitive state, any movement is too risky and will alert them.
- alerted: try to kill them . At the end of this state (~3s), they yell and alert the rest of the room.
- awake: kill or back out of the room because the rest of it will be waking up.
Generally, try to never sprint. Even if you only tap shift for a second, that will instantly wake nearby enemies. Keep this in mind during the alerted state and walk instead.
Standing/crouching in place will force glowing within ~15ft or so.
If you kill a sleeper, others within ~10ft radius will be alerted.
If you kill a sleeper, others ALREADY glowing outside of ~10ft and IN line of sight to the one you're about to kill have a chance of being alerted. For this reason, best practice is to wait until all nearby enemies aren't glowing at all.
Hopefully that helps.
