Special: Revolver or MG
Tool: Mines or glue
Special: Combat Shotgun
Tool: Mines or biotracker
Melee: Gavel
Special: 3-bullet-burst carabine
Tool: shotgun sentry (and biotracker if team needs it)
Special : S870 Shotgun (I don't think I'd ever change this weapon combo)
Tool : Mines or C-Foam
Special: S870 Shotun
Tool: Burst Sentry
Special: Machine Gun
Tool: Mines
Primary: Assault Rifle (Auto)
Special: Shotgun
Tool: Bio-Tracker
I've heard many people say the burst deals more damage per burst however I don't like the feeling of having to click multiple times to shoot. Plus I feel like I hit my shots more often with the Auto over the Burst.
Secondary: Auto Shotgun (sniper if there are scouts)
Tool:Shotgun sentry
Special: machine gun (anything but the sniper please)
tool: sea foam or shotgun sentry
playing with the shotgun sentry killing giants/rangers is fun as hell
also the scout room in R2B2 is awesome training for taking out scouts with foam or just melee if you can get there.
Special: Buckland shotgun or Machine gun
Tool: shotgun sentry
I have used all weapons and they are all good depending on how you use them (I would like the sound of the machine gun to be similar to the aliens pulse rifle)
DMR / Shotgun / Shotgun Sentry
I can switch my two loadouts according to the maps I play with the Machine Pistol I really enjoy playing with.
Burst Rifle
Love this one for longer range engagements, its pretty accurate and takes them down fast.
Combat Shotgun
I have the worst time targeting them once they get up close and scramble around like rats. This takes care of that problem... quickly.
Also... tend to be a Mine Layer enthusiast since the increase in ammo.
I'll just list the weapons and whether I think they're good or bad, sorted by primary and secondaries and listed from best to worst.
SMG: Has lots of ammo, does basically the same damage as the AR, has less muzzle flash and recoil than the AR does. Probably the best auto weapon.
DMR: Great if you can get headshots, subpar if you can't. And often you can't because of the jittery animations and mini-warping the enemies sometimes do.
Assault Rifle: A lesser version of the SMG now.
Burst Rifle: it hardly ever seems to kill trash mobs with a single burst to the head. If it doesn't, which it won't most of the time, you need a second burst; you're spending 6 shots putting down an enemy. The AR is better in general as long as you can pick your shots, and being able to spray is better for a horde. Because of the two-burst kills it also makes kills and new target acquisition too slow.
Pistol: it's improved from its rundown 1 iteration, but still not good enough to warrant taking over other weapons. Three headshots on a standard enemy to kill it, with no really ADS zoom? What role is this supposed to fill? It doesn't do the most damage, it doesn't zoom in so it isn't great at range, it doesn't have the most ammo, it isn't the most ammo efficient, it just flat out doesn't perform well in any category more than another weapon.
Machine pistol: no thanks.
Pump shotgun: now has more ammo than before, but still does considerable damage. It still kills trash in one shot, it still kills scouts in one shot, it still takes down big enemies in 3-4 shells, and you get 8 shells back per ammopack, so ammo isn't an issue if you're balancing the consumption between 1st and 2nd weapons.
Revolver: also a scout killer and instant kills trash with headshots, so it's a stronger DMR. Good if you're accurate.
Machine Gun: much worse than it was before because of the recoil, muzzle flash and muzzle lift. Even controlling for the recoil and lift, it still sprays like a punctured hose and you'll miss some shots even at midrange. Aim adjustment is really hard because you can't see where your shots are going half the time.
Auto shotty: as garbage as it was on rundown 1. If you can get 1- or 2-shot kills with it, it's good and ammo efficient. But it's weak as hell, range is like six feet, spread is far too wide, it's essentially an exaggerated caricature of the "video game shotgun" meme taken to an extreme. Awful.
Sniper: also awful. There's just no good reason for a good player to take it except for the specific instance of acting as an anti-scout safety net while playing with others of questionable skill levels who may not be able to stealth kill the scout. Just take a pump shotgun or revolver if you're going to shoot-kill it.
