Got gifted a beta of GTFO, is this the full game?

A friend gifted me a beta "key" (in-Steam gift) and I was wondering if it's supposed to be only the beta, or if only the beta will show on my account until release, then I'll receive the full key - or, more importantly, I was concerned whether Steam effed up. When I clicked redeem, it at first said the key was "already redeemed", but then the beta appeared on my account so I was confused and thought Steam may have broken it.

Given Steam's track-record for breaking gifts, I thought I'd ask.

Unfortunately the beta/alpha access is no longer available. The game has released into early access now. In order to play you will need to purchase the game.

Hey, sorry, the beta is over, and I am pretty sure you won't be able to play the version of the beta game.

The EA game is a different release, it does not come from the old beta keys, and you won't get a copy of the EA release from having a beta key.

So the gifts my friend received to give out to others were only for the beta, and he only received one "real" key then?

You got the Beta keys for signing up to the ambassador program. You didn't need to buy the game, so he may not have a copy of the game himself.

Okay, thanks. I was looking forward trying this before buying it, so I know if it's for my wife and I. Guess I have to buy it after all

You could watch some streams if you're unsure about it. I found it a good way to find out what to expect.
