GTFO

Why the title?
I checked the store page out because the concept seemed good. I like the video and think like the look. Can't say on the gameplay obviously since can't play but was intrigued, but I can't get over the dumb title. Why would you make a game I presume you want to be taking seriously and name it like a meme. I was curious for early access, I love trying out games as they build, but if you take yourselves with such little sincerity to name an action co-op game "GTFO" how can I take you seriously. I don't want to purchase an early access that feels is taken with such little concern it won't make it out of early access.

And no, I'm not bashing or raging or anything I'm being honest. I like the catchphrase better as the name "Work Together or Die Together" that gets my attention quick, and reminds me of the teamwork and co-op that will be needed. GTFO sounds like a marketing campaign to a kid asking his mom for allowance to buy the game.

Nice looking, and interesting concept, horrible childish name for a game that looks to be hardcore and real.

Yeah, the name is kinda silly. It's too ironic that it's cringy, but not ironic enough so that it manages to be so bad, it's good.

I agree. Can`t wait for launch but this title is damn stupid

"Hey, do you guys want to play Work Together or Die Together?"

GTFO is a better title than that, at the very least.

It's already confirmed GTFO doesn't stand for "Get the ♥♥♥♥ Out" by Simon himself. Everyone assumes that's what it means, but I'm almost certain it has to do something with the story or lore around the game that you'll find out when you play.

i cant see any conflict to and with anyone with this Title, formore it is a short and simple Title, easy to remember and it tells you, better said me, what i am have to do . - means simply "escape the place on where you are be"

I deleted Snake's post here because it was so acidic and inflammatory. Don't barge in here and call people idiots just because they don't like the name of the game. People are entitled to their opinions.

We appreciate the discussion and everybody's opinion on the matter, but I thought I'd answer OP so that they get an official answer:

GTFO is a name that sticks out and is easy to remember (whether you like it or not), plus it has a clear connection to the game's story.

Well, it sure grabbed my attention when I saw it!

well, in the game you are (i think) criminals forced to go down there and do stuff and because thats such a hellish place and you should always be aware and as fast as possible, you should "GTFO" as fast as you can

I still think that it's probably an acronym for something else that would be integral to the background of the game. I know the devs can't confirm or deny anything since that would give spoilers, but that's the feeling I'm getting.
ProfessorElz Apr 23, 2019 @ 11:54am
GTFO is an acronym for Get The ♥♥♥♥ Out, doesn't really have anything to do with memes. If you ask me it fits well enough sense considering the nature of the game. You're basically judging a book by it's cover, if said book was a video game.

Nah... I am pretty sure noone is judging the game. Hard to do this as there is no game so far.
It is just covers are things that are first to be seen and first impressions of such minor things sometimes have impact on your decission if to buy or not.
If reviews will be good I will definetely buy it but I still think title is bad even if it have some connotations with game content, story etc. Just opinion.

Now we've gone from complaining about nudity in games to complaining about the title of the game.

What will you complain about next?
