Hey!

Welcome to the first Steam post for Hearts Gone Black. I’m very happy to finally have the Steam page live and to start showing more of the game. Hearts Gone Black is a solo-developed top-down survival horror game set years after a failed experiment changed humanity forever.

The dead now walk with black hearts, the world is broken, and the few survivors left are forced to live in abandoned rural towns, ruined homes, and unsafe shelters.

A survival horror game about more than fighting

In Hearts Gone Black, you are not a hero. You are one of the few people still breathing, trying to keep yourself and your group alive for one more day.

You will scavenge abandoned houses, gather resources, craft weapons and gear, hunt wildlife, cook, research upgrades, grow food, and defend your base from infected creatures and hostile survivors. Every run outside the safety of your shelter is a risk. Supplies are limited, the world is dangerous, and every decision can cost you time, resources, or people.

What to expect

Hearts Gone Black will include scavenging, looting, hunting, mining, crafting, cooking, farming, research, storage, survivor assignments, base defense, hostile survivors, infected enemies, dynamic weather, and horde-style extraction/defense events.

The game is planned for release in Q1 2027. It is still in development, with more systems, content, balancing, and polish still being worked on. If the game looks interesting to you, wishlisting it on Steam helps a lot.
