12GB memory is good, 16 would be better but 12 is good enough.
256GB SSD is good also however this looks like all the storage this laptop has which is extremely limiting.....
The Geforce 940MX is a refresh of the 940M, supposedly some Manufacturers use GDDR5x memory with it to give it a performance boost however many still use GDDR3 to save costs so its hard to tell whether yours will use it or not, need to do more research on Lenovo for that.
So whilst this Laptop would run it, I'd probably look at spending a couple hundred more and building a darn good desktop, if a Desktop is not what your looking for even a couple hundred more would probably net you a better Quad Core CPU and more storage.
EDIT: Found one for $150 more, it's the same size screen and processer and GPU, has 4GB less ram which isnt Ideal hwoever it comes with a 256GB M.2 SSD (faster) and a 1TB HDD for more storage options. I wouldnt recommend this per se (I would over the one you have found) but im struggling to find a 7th Gen Quadcore Laptop under $1k lol.

EDIT 2: This one has nearly Doubled your budget but this is something your deffintely looking at wanting to get if gaming is your primary concern.

This is all subjective, I'm a bit of a Hardware snob, so in my mind if your going to do it you may as well do it right, I'd spend the extra on my first suggestion personally purely due to the better SSD and extra storage. However if my primary reason for buying said Item is to game and keep portability then I'd be going for option 2 (HP Omen).
Unless you cool with getting a Desktop, then we can do so much more xD.......
Butr in answer to your first question....Yes the first laptop you selected WILL run it, might not be the best experience but it does meet Minimum system requirements in theory. Hope this helps.
It does but in laptops....they are usually equal in price to the i7's or come with a much smaller screen. I had an i5 2500k myself before this one and i still think that was my best CPU due to the overclocking ability i had on it lol. If theres a quadcore i5 laptop out there with a decent GPU attached why not!
You're probably better off talking to someone in the states that has experience with PC's I can only tell you from my perspective in the UK. I mean i can find things for you but they might not be the best in your area or might not even ship to you lol, I'd suggest looking for i5 or Ryzen 5 Desktops with a GTX1060 or above and 8 - 16GB ram. Make sure it has windows installed of course lol. Vega is still high price at the moment (at least here) which is why I dont recommend them at this time.
Also with a desktop you have have a mouse / keyboard / Monitor etc....
If your not really going to use it for gaming, then the original one you selected will be sufficient to play the game, but you wont be able to max it out.
