I'm Not Creative Enough For This Game
So this is something I've struggled with: Planet Coaster is a beautiful game, I enjoy playing it, but I feel I'm not creative enough to use it's full potential, if that makes sense. To preface, I'm in my mid 30's, grew up playing (and still do) all the RCT games.

I have downloaded plenty of items from the workshop to bridge that gap and basically rely on the creativity of others.

I'm just wondering if anyone else struggles with that same thought.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Every now and then I'm a little disappointed in the depth of detail I fail to add to a park.

It's like, I see other parks, and, there's just stuff everywhere. Everywhere!

Then you look at one of mine, and, it looks like the aftermath of a tornado. Lots and lots of empty space punctuated by the occasional Chief Beef.

I figure this is the best I can do for now. I create new buildings, little by little, every time I play, so it gets better, little by little. And after all, you can't expect more after you've done your best, so sit back, relax, enjoy the fruits of your labors.

Sometimes the artist is his own worst critic.

If you are not creative then don't play the game that way. I play this like i did Theme Park by BullFrog, A fun business management game. I get to recreate all the old fairgrounds and travelling carnivals i can remember visiting, I can add all the music i remember the rides playing and i get to max out the salt on the fries and make everyone thirsty then water down the soda. It's great!
Just an idea, But try playing as a travelling fun fair owner (Loads of workshop items for this) and stay in an area till you make a bunch of money and unlock all the rides.

That's not a bad idea actually, thanks!

What you should do is think of roller coasters you've been on before and take little bits of them into your ride and if you run out of roller coasters, Mix n' match

Just build a coaster and go from there, You will start to image what you want to do. Have fun don't worry about the look. Check out my park and see for your self. your friend James

I have some parks, rides, and scenery items sometimes I am less than happy with. I find some times wandering my own parks with said items in place allows my imagination to open up based on my theme, item position, etc. My stuff gets edited or upgraded constantly.

I am not as creative as the experienced player either but i have created so many parks with this game. Even though they are not the greatest compared to the experts, I still enjoy creating my own and will gladly share with others. But here lies the problem....lately when I open the game, on the first screen with the 3D picture of the world, when I first purchased the game there used to be several people all over the world on the 3D globe...now my avatar is the only one there!!! I just started another discussion asking that question....where is everyone??? So if you are concerned about not being up to par with other creators, now is the time to show yourself on that globe because since we are the only ones actually playing the game (at least that's what it looks like) then you will be among others who are at the same level you are. I have uploaded some of my parks. I'm learning as I go along by watching Channel 5 Gaming and the parks he's reviewing. (I just recently figured out how to make buildings for the coaster stations).

I suspect that you are just too creative and therefore cannot build what you want. The game has quite some limitations when it comes to placing objects these days. For example, you can only install walls of 4 meters long and if you are one meter short, you have to create a collision, which does not improve performance. You can notice that the game is now very outdated. Dark rides are not available in the dark, only 1 set of rollercoaster doors that you can open and close, but you don't want to place them in a castle theme ride for example. It's not you, but rather the outdated game.
woah i feel the exact same way as you whenever i play this! i just don't have the time to do insane decorating and i would have no idea where to start to begin with. putting down flora along paths is one thing, but when it comes to "decorating" roller coasters... i don't even know lol. not to mention that the controls are clunky at times. so no, you aren't alone! :happy_yeti:

what i like to do a lot is just look for source material on google or youtube. for example when i try to build a main street or a facade with a certain theme, i mostly look up images from real life parks and either rebuild the image as close as possible or i try to add my own ideas once im like halfway trough with the build. this tends to kickstart my creativity most of the times and then i manage to build stuff all on my own nearly without any problems.

well, to say the game is outdated because there are limitations to building in my opinion just isnt true. theres many creative ways to actually have walls for example that arent 4m long, for example using the stucko tower piece. dark rides can actually also be "dark" rides using the time machine which can trigger to change onride time to night :) its maybe not very accesible to everyone but to say theres limitations using your examples isnt really true in my opinion.

I do build, but I love browsing the workshop too - there's so much lovely stuff there and people shared it to see it used and to be honest even picking out the right decor from the workshop is some work. I feel like it's honouring those creative hours folk put into their lovely creations for us to use them as much as I can. So thank you all, creative souls because sometimes after work I just lack the energy to make that pirate ride look as good as you did.
