Game not starting, missing .dll
I just unlocked and loaded the Party in the Park Alpha edition. Ran the installer, but everytime I try to start the game, nothing happens. No screen, no errors, no feedback of any kind. My Steam friends window briefly shows that I am in Planet Coaster Alpha, then it just changes back to 'online'.

Are your GPU drivers up to date?

If I try to run the application directly, instead of through the desktop shortcut, it says api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing.

Just updated GPU driver, same result.

IIt didn't worked on my site too, so I was starting the Game under Steam directly and after that, Planet Coaster install VC Redist Package and this takes time .............

Try installing this if you get this issue:

It says that update is not applicable to your computer. I also checked in Windows Update and did not see that update as one to install. I am on Win 7 SP 1 64-bit. I tried both updates for x64 and x86 and got the same answer.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Planet Coaster Alpha.

Same result "not applicable to your computer".

A restart of my computer indicated that it was waiting for Planet Coaster Alpha to close, when it wasn't running according to Task Master.

I am up to date on all Visual C ++ 2005 updates.

I too am having this problem. Exactly the same in everyway. If I try to start it directly through the shortcut it says api-ms-win-crt-runtime-I1-1-0.dll is missing despite me being up to date on it. I've tried reinstalling twice now and still missing.
Well the problem appears to be with Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 not installing properly. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, and repairing it, but to no avail. It fails with 0x80240017 - Unspecified error. The log shows:

Error 0x80240017: Failed to execute MSU package.
Error 0x80240017: Failed to configure per-machine MSU package.

I even tried a "clean" boot install, but nothing seems to work.

While trying to resolve this using CMD I saw "Adding package Package_for_KB2999226~amd64~6.1.1.5. The specified package is no applicable to this image." I wonder if Windows is trying to install AMD code on my Intel processor?

I have found that other people have had this problem with other games and Visual C++ 2015, but have not found any solutions that seem to work. There is a note that Starbound updated their game to not use Visual C++ 2015.

Well that's 6 hours I could have wasted building a theme park, instead it was wasted trying to work around Microsoft's incompentent software.

I've exhausted every lead I had to no avail. The only options left would seem to be upgrade to Win 10 or reinstall Win 7, neither of which is guaranteed to work and are undesirable. I guess the only thing I can do is ask for a refund. I know this isn't a Planet Coaster issue, but the end result is that I can't play the game. I have seen references to other people having this same issue playing other games, so I imagine that this problem will become more common as new games are released.

If the update determines that it's not required you'll need to run System File Checker[support.microsoft.com] and afterwards try installing Visual C++ Runtime 2015 Update 1[www.microsoft.com].
Game not working
I click the game, steam says preparing to launch but nothing happens...

What are your computer specs? Do you have your GPU drivers up to date?

I ran file checker numerous times, installed all win 7 patches (important, optional, visual c++), uninstalled/reinstalled 2015 more than 40 times, gone through every google search result and tried every "fix". Nothing works. I spent 14 hours trying to resolve this.

Today I tried to uninstall KB2999226, but it isn't listed in the installed patch list. When I try to install it, it says "not applicable for this computer" which can mean several different things. Of course Microsoft won't tell you the exact reason for the message.

I fixed the problem by updating to Win10. That wasn't a pleasant situation either. Microsoft said it would take about 90 minutes, it took 10 hours, mostly because the update process hung at 99% done. Microsoft's answer, there's no problem and just because it doesn't appear to do anything doesn't mean it's not doing something, give it 4-7 hours, and still it didn't finish.

You can download api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll, than the problem is fixed.
