How do you add custom movies to screens in your park?

Save your videos or pictures into

Documents / Frontier Developments / Planet Coaster / User Media

Then when you place the screen all files in that folder will be available to select.

You can put songs into / User Music and these will be available on your speakers and rides etc.

what format?
grampers62 Aug 10, 2021 @ 6:47am
Webm for video

I converted a mp4 to webm and selected user files on a screen, but the video is not showing up. I noticed on the screen it is marked user videos, so I tried renaming it to match, but still no joy so I changed it back to usermedia.

You confirmed the webm version plays outside of PC?
abletudu Aug 10, 2021 @ 11:15am
yes, it played fine on VLC. I then went back to the file location and somehow it had been deleted so I recopied it to usermedia (for about the third time) and now it is playing in the game OK. One thing I noticed about the game is the peeps simply walk by without even looking at the screen. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Yeah, it's all just eye candy for the player.

Probably the best use I've seen of a home video inserted into the game is in a "dark ride".

The ride can be built with screens in different positions, so when you ride, your movies can trigger on those screens, then you can show anything you like. You can have a movie of an infinite tunnel going off into the distance, as your car ambles by. You can have a movie of your "spaceship" being bombarded by "meteors." All sorts of things.

Certain things may be impossible to actually build in the game, but the only limit to in-ride movies is your imagination.

Nice idea!

I've been thinking if the custom movies are just "eye candy" wouldn't that apply to all advertising items also? I think that no matter how many advertisements you have pointing to a certain ride or attraction that it would have absolutely no effect on the game so why use them at all?

Coz it's Eye Candy for Human Players.

It won't affect the game, it doesn't affect the computerized peeps, but sometimes the human player walks among them, riding the rides, looking at the scenery.

Sometimes somebody makes a video of the experience and loads it to the Steam Workshop and Youtube. That is directed to a human audience.

Have you spotted your Avatar yet? The game adds it in sometimes. I remember I went on a ride once, and I looked around, saw the guy sitting next to me, and I said, "Hey, that guy's shirt looks familiar." Sure enough ... I was riding next to myself!

Oh, btw, any sign or movie screen or whatever (even some of the windows on buildings), if you click to its management screen and it has a button reading "Advertising Destination," then definitely click that. You can direct the advertising to one (or multiple) shop or rides That advertising does work in-game and will draw more customers to a shop or a ride.

If you're just worried about the peeps in-game, then it doesn't matter having a "Chief Beef" sign advertising the "Ascendance" ride. There really aren't enough distinct signs for all the stuff you might want to advertise anyway. For in-game, it doesn't matter, so long as you do have some advertising. But if you're going to make a video to publish on Youtube, then you might want the advertising to make some kind of sense.

Don't you know? There are vista point you can add to your paths

https://planetcoaster.fandom.com/wiki/Vista_Point

if you hook up some fireworks to the vista point it can help with any fireworks goals.

but yeah V2-Retro here is saying make the guest watch the screen by putting a vista point right in front of it so it makes people stop and point/watch the screen.
