Coaster chains with one coaster open and one coaster in test
I created a coaster chain that is all sync'd up between and works in test mode. One of the coasters flies off the track and so it cannot be completed. But when I open the other coaster to guests, the coaster chain no longer remains synchronized. Is there anyway to force synchronization between two coasters where one is open to guests and the other is in test mode?

Yes there is. What you need to do with Synched coasters is to stop using the regular Closed/Testing/Open button at the top of the panel but go to the coaster chain section of the panel. Here you will see both rides can be closed/testing/open with one button.

but when i do this the coaster with the incomplete track stays on test mode. That coaster can never be open as the theme of my overall coaster is to have that second one act as a special effect by having the train fly off the track

Unfortunately they both must be complete (valid) coasters.

To make a crashing coaster in the middle of the valid coaster run for dramatic effect.

well ... just have the crashing coaster keep crashing for dramatic effect, and try to set up the timing so that there's a reasonable chance your coaster car will be in the right place at the right time.

coz, really, that's kinda weird ... no judgement ...

As has already been hinted at, you cannot open a coaster which is not complete :)

As an after thought, if you are looking to make a crashing coaster effect as a part of a complete ride. Why does the incomplete coaster have to be open? Won't test mode be just fine? You only need your complete coaster to be open don't you?

The key is to have it timed to interact at a specific point in the completed coaster's run.

Yes exactly that. You don't need a duplicate coaster or anything, you don't even need a lift on your effects/crashing coaster. It just needs to launch into the right space of your complete coaster at the correct time and yup you might want to have it coming down a hill or round an inversion but just use the launch delay for timing everything. This will definitely get trickier for your second complete train as the first complete train will still be in motion after the effects coaster crashes. Not sure if the coaster chain will wait for your complete train to return to its station before it releases another effects train.

The testing coaster will reset right after the crash sequence meaning that unless things accidentally work out right the chance of the timing on multiple runs is very very low.
The big thing is the crash sequence doesn't always take the same amount of time.

Far too complicated for me. I do think you're right. There isn't really a way to time it correctly especially after the first run.
