Will Thememaker's Toolkit Be a Success?
I'm sorry I'm not on the hype train like I should be on this knowing that there are many restrictions on it. I really don't know if there is still modding interest to deliver the massive amounts of scenery everyone is expecting. Call me pessimistic right now until proven otherwise, but I just don't see this being a game changing update where expert modders will deliver masterpieces for all of us to enjoy. More so something similar to the scenario editor, a nice feature, initial excitement, a lot of beginner modder contributions, but not something that changes the tide. I hope to be proven wrong.

One good thing, unlike with much of the CS for RCT3, it's fairly easy to spot CS in PC that has large files sizes...you can see the file sizes listed before even downloading and use your own judgement...

The size, well.. someone complained about the size of one of my custom floors ... it's 4,5 MB, which really isn't a lot if you take into account all the maps involved. But the guy thinks "it's just a floor, why so big?" ... it's not the polygon models that eat up a game's ressources, it's the textures...

So, before judging on filesize, take into account the quality of the item as well.

This ain't too big in terms of filesize, if you take a closer look at this.
I think TMT is great but it isn't perfect. I like that it supports animatronics and static scenary items. I would like to have seen support for audio and video textures but TMT is still amazing. It takes me back to RCT3 days. I am not yet comfortable in Blender so I am going to try to do TMT items using Cinema 4D since it allows for export as *.fbx. Overall, I think TMT is already a huge success. I don't wanna have to wait for the next DLC for scenary items but would love to see the TMT expanded upon in a future. I am truly thankful for the toolkit and won't be letting it go to waste. As time passed by we will get better at designing TMT items and the community will get stronger because of it. Another thing I would like to see in the TMT is custom billboards. Imagine designing assets a gift shop such as a t-shirt or souvenir cup and being able to put your own designs on the front of the t-shirt or side of the cup. This would be nice. I guess for now we will have to rely on recoloring items.
