Switch Game Mode from Sandbox to Challenge?

Is there a way to start a park in the sandbox mode and switch to challenge? I want to build some basics and scenery without money problems and manage and expand the park later with the challenge mode.

From the My Parks screen on main menu, you have the choice to open your parks as Challenge / Sandbox.

I can only choose resume, delete and upload in the My Parks screen. I can also filter the parks but i dont know how to convert Parks to Challenge. Or is there a way to start with more money? that would also solve my problem. I dont want to save money by not building scenery stuff at the beginning.

Same issue here. Downloaded a map that has been sculpted but still blank. Now can't play as a challenge. Sandbox just isn't as fun unless you want to build like mad

Been hunting through the game files in hopes they were just in different folders, but no luck. The designation of sandbox or challenge seems to be in the saves config files somewhere. I would hope this would make its way in at some point as the flat maps are boring to play on.

Definitely a needed feature... I wanted to be able to start in Sandbox to create some decent entrances, then realized I couldn't save it as Challenge.

You can create something in Sandbox and save it, and then open it as Challenge.. At least I can do it, even with the Career scenarios, I can open them in Challenge or Sandbox.

Yes you seem to be right, never tested it before to be honest. Well, not really an issue for me but it would have been nice to be able to that's true.

On reddit, Mr_Blu3 described workaround, which allows you to switch to Challenge mode from Sandbox. So effectivelly you can create your scenario and then play challenge mode. You'll lose fun with researching though, as you'll have everything unlocked after this tweak.

The steps (i've simplified them a bit):
1) Create the landscape for your park in sandbox mode and save it as normal. Put the word 'sandbox' in the save name to help you out later.

2) Create a new challenge mode park with the same environment you used for the sandbox park (Desert, alpine etc.) and save it. Put the word 'challenge' in the save name to help you out later.

3) Quit the game.

4) Go to your saves (Users\"username'\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\"random numbers")

5) Open folder of the challenge park you saved and copy the fcompressedsave_metadata file.

6) Open folder the sandbox park you landscaped and saved and replace the metadata file with the one you copied from the challenge park.

7) Launch the game and go into my parks. You should see the park you created in sandbox mode now listed as a challenge park. ( Don't open it, it still would look like Sandbox with unlimited money)

8) Upload to Steam Workshop and then download it, it will now be converted to a challenge mode park! You can now save it as normal.

Good news is that you can do this also with Career maps as well (just open one as Sandbox as step 1) and build there whatever you want with still playing in challenge mode :)

Basically I splited my original park in 3 huge blueprints, started a new game in challenge, earned money and researched what I need to put all the 3 together. Took me a lot of work but it was better than loosing the park, and challenge mode is way more fun.
