How to make money?
So I start a new challenge park, build two flat rides and some shops and I'm out of my starting money. This small startup isn't enough to sustain itself so I can't even start building a park before I'm bankrupt. What do you need to do to start a park that will pay for itself?

Some things you can do

Build a coaster (it is great for income)
Build flat rides and shops (you did it)
Make sure to make sceary
Take loans
Up the park entrance fee / shops / rides price

Right, I've just been leaving everything at the default price so far.

Is there a good way to work out how much to charge? I remember in RCT2 you would add intensidy and excitement and divide by 2 and that would be how much you would charge.

You want my honest opinion, instead of telling you what to do.

I prefer to set everything as free ('cept the shop stuff obv.) and gradually increase the entrance fee with each new ride. I currently got $42 ticket prices and several big rides just openning. I got about £26k now, I had £2000 when I started to make the area.

Just been in challenge mode and i understand your slow start, i was only making up to 1k a month after an hour of play which feels quite slow.

I found the flat ride 'Insanity' is a great ride for money income, people love it and you can bump the price up over time (i do this in intervals or either 0.3 or 0.5, this usually helps get an idea what people will pay without loosing too much customers all at once). Shops near park enterance works well. If you are desperate you could slap prices on toilets and first aid, i try to keep these free for the happiness but toilets at least will make some extra small income.

Otherwise it will take a bit of time until you have the money you want, i find the challenges help but are a bit... pointless due to most are related to building a coaster which isn't easy without money. After a few months pass you should have enough to build a coaster, it doesn't have to be out of this world great but spend some time on it, you are only profiting as you trial and build it (leave park playing) and when it is done, you might get a decent price on it, coasters usually = good money income.

You should after your coast, be on your way to a better figure of income, even if it is just enough to build some scenery and the odd flat ride.

Remember, all shops cost you so it is worth checking their income, you need to pay the staff and people forget this which cost them monthly sometimes.

Here is a couple of tips. You can gradually raise the prices of all rides, and shops until you see that people are no longer willing to pay the fee. The game will tell you when you reach that point in the summary view where you will see notification of "I'm not paying that much..etc". You can do the same to optimize your employees via lowering/raising their salary until you see that they are contempt and in the green for the price point. If peeps are stating they do not have the money for a ride place an ATM nearby where the majority of traffic to the ride is located. Do not raise the skill level of shop employees until you see that their shop queue is constantly over run with peeps and guest begin to complain. More skilled staff can execute the same level of work for less price then less skilled staff. Do not place staff near each other (unless using a roster) as they will often get stuck in the same location/work loops as each other.
If you can somehow unlock them early, Info boooths are incredible for your pocket book.
Its better to charge for entrance or rides or both?

If you charge for entrance, people will not be willing to pay as much for ride prices, so you can't really get away with both. Personally I prefer charging for rides and having free entrance, but having charged entrance and free rides is more "realistic"

I find charging for entrance to be very difficult to balance and the larger your park is the harder it becomes. I always have free entrance fees since the few times I have tried it the other way it has blown up in my face!
I have better experience charging for entrance because you get the money no matter your rides are full or too long queeue or not the taste of the guest. But you need constant marketing campaign otherwise when the guests stop coming you go in debt quickly.

My question was more like, what is the best at beggining as I'm tired of struggle with money.

i do believe they need to tweak the economics a bit... i have played several times now and thought for sure this go around i had things "figured" out.... I got my park pretty big, had 100k in cash , had 3 advertising campaigns going... actually stopped researching for a while as i had to much stuff to place down that i had already researched... but as always , at some point the math just bites your ass... people dont want to pay much for rides...unless its a high prestige like the go karts or the water rides.... all the other rides start costing money per month, if you try to inch up the price even just to break even the people start ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the price... as the park gets bigger you need more janitors, more mechanics, and dont even get me started on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ vendors... even if you just fire them after a few training sessions and keep hiring cheap labor at some point your park just starts becoming a money pit, start closing campaigns, closing rides firing people it doesnt matter, at some point its just going down the drain till your broke....

they need to look at the economics a bit and do some tweaking...im tired of building up a nice park to about half of what i have planned and i cant finish cause everything just goes to s hit.

You should give your staff $1.00 per month, keep in mind this will make them quit really fast but then just hire new people and do the same. Later you can increse their salary, asking loans is also good and remember to keep the prices high. For rides start with 10 and work your way up to 15. When you start a park keep the entry fee free and then increse it after a while. Shop prices need to be high but you need to make sure that people buy them.

Take out a loan, build 2 good coasters under 10 k each. Achieve a scenery rating of 100 on each. Depending on the prestige of the coasters you can charge 20 to 30$ for each coaster.

Don't worry about cutting the pay of your staff as mentioned in the comments above. Oh and don't charge an entrance fee, on charge for rides and shops. You can easily top 100k with 3 or 4 coasters and a few flat rides
