Friction
Devs, you have a masterpiece here. This game is near perfect. I mean, seriously almost flawless. One thing is really ruining it for me though...I'd think it's an easy fix, and I hope everyone agrees and we can get it where it needs to be. Right now, friction is downright insane. There's just now way to build a long, realistic coaster at all. Trying to build a wooden coaster and it's just coming to a stop after almost no length at all. Can we revisit this and get it sorted out? Maybe a "pay more maintenence for less friction" option like in RCT3?

Hmmm, I'm not sure I share your concerns...

Yes, I would like a "Pay more maitenance for less friction" option as well. I feel like the friction has been too high since alpha 3.

I agree, the game needs a low friction option like RCT3. The friction is clearly too high. It's not as noticeable on shorter coasters obviously, but it's frustrating trying to build longer coasters and recreations of real life coasters. When the train reaches the same point in game as it would in real life, and it's crawling in game where as in real life it would be travelling just fine, that's a problem. Making the coaster taller doesn't help much either.

I noticed this too. A while ago I tried to do a remake of a Zierer juniorcoaster double figure 8. In real life those things are only up to 9 - 11 meters in height. When you try to construct this in PC the train stalls before the second figure 8 when in reality these coasters maintain a good speed all over. I played a bit around with the height to make it work but now it looses realism.

I'm really surprised this hasn't gotten more notice yet. It's probably my biggest (maybe only) real issue with the game, but it's a problem when you're trying to make good coasters!

So I'm not the only one then who feels the friction is too high, neat. Hopefully a "low friction, higher cost" option is made like from RCT3. Re-made a park from Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and, the coaster runs fine up until about 75% of the way, then it begins to crawl along the track. It's mostly annoying when you have to use drive tires in sections/speeds that Shouldn't need them. Would be nice to see a "Ride Operations" type dlc, like low friction, launch options, reverse options, etc.

This has hit me as well. I tried to recreate Cyclone form Coney Island. When I recreate the coaster by using real-world height (85-86 feet) the coaster can never finish the circuit, it stalls not even half way through. In order to make it possible, I had to cheat by adjusting lift hill speed and height to an unrealistic proportion (12+feet higher than the real coaster) and lowering the rest of the track to an unrealistic proportion as well, even that the train struggles to reach the station ended up with funny looking Cyclone. I'll upload it to the work Workshop so everyone can see.

This has got to be fixed.

The friction is definitely too high. It's honestly my main issue with the game. I don't know much about coding, but I hope it's an easy fix. I want to play around with this game more, but can't make the realistic layouts that I want. Frontier is really good about listening to their fans, so hopefully this gets addressed soon.

More likely it would be more noticed on the official forums.
