It means your coaster should have at least 5 sections that have a vertical G of 0 or less.

and how would i do that? oh and only have the crappy wooden coaster to do it...

Vertical G's go down at the crest of hills
MetaMarty Nov 21, 2016 @ 2:51am
The wooden coaster can easily achieve this. When you go over a hilltop, vertical G's will decrease. Do this with sufficient speed and it will go below 0. Air time is counted in the properties sceen of the coaster after a test run.

there is a prebuilt one but it only has 2 airtime.
so i have to make it go slowly down a hill when it gets to the top? should be easy than

At the top of a hill, G's decrease. At the bottom, G's increase. The higher the speeds, the more pronounced this effect is. I would suggest you take any coaster, do a test run and closely monitor the vertical acceleration indicator while the carts move accross the track to learn about this effect to get a better insight in how it works.

try my coaster if you like. it has 5 seconds airtime:

you can see after testing how many seconds of airtime the track has, give it more bumps to go over to increase airtime
they really do a poor job at telling novices like yours truly what airtime is and how to achieve it, had to google around to figure out how to do this mission

that'll do!

I disagree with you guys, airtime it not only when Vertical G is at 0 or less, I think that you need to have a Lateral G at 0 or less too, and a forward G at 0 or less too. Otherwise it means that a bend without go to top or down is an airtime. No?
MetaMarty Nov 21, 2016 @ 6:24am
As far as I know, only vertical G counts. Having 0 vertical G means that you are effectively weightless, so you are floating, hence "air time". Forward acceleration is only 0 exactly at the top of the hill. Lateral should be low anyway. Having high lateral G's is very uncomfortable, so a good coaster design would always try to minimise lateral G's by tilting the track.

Yes, I agree with you, a good coaster design would always try to minimise lateral G. But with a high lateral G and a low vertical G, you're not floating, you're ejected on the side, so the game shouldn't count an airtime, am I wrong?

Hi guys, to clear up any confusion, the explanation of airtime is here: {LINK REMOVED}
(FDev confirmed :) )

Wooden coasters aren't crappy, you just have to know how to build them. Take some inspiration from real wooden coasters if you're having trouble.

Anyway, basically, you're going to want to make use of an element called an "airtime hill". This is exactly what it sounds like it is - it's a hill or bump that the train runs over to induce airtime. Heck, if you have a fast enough pre-drop, your first drop can even give some airtime.
