After building a solid main street theme area and western theme area, I terraformed the land to give me a penninsula with rivers in it surrounded by water leading to a dock area. Connected the main park to the village by a land path and built a bridge over the bay from the western area to the village port. I then built a pirate villlage port with a Coax coaster weaving through a village of carribean style buildings. I built a sushi & juice shop that duplicated a fish & grog shop with a small ferry landing using Worlds Fair DLC items. Included a carribean style staff building, restroom, ATM, balloon stand and a Tower ride (Hyperjump from the new Magnificent Rides DLC). Assigned a janitor, mechanic, security guard & Capt Lockjaw entertainer to this work area. I plan to add two or three more rides/coasters to the area.
Maybe a tranport steamboat ride based out of the village port would look good cruising the rivers. A hypercoster going around the perimiter of the peninsula with pirate scenary would look good. A possible fort protecting against native or pirate attacks would also look good. Flat ride to consider would be Victory (swinging ship). Maybe a tracked ride like log flume or rafting for family entertainment. Heavy use of tropical scenary for the area. Maybe add a governor's mansion using the in-game manor. Might want to create bayous around the village to fill in the penninsula. Could create a scenic train ride inside the penninsula.
Hope this helps give you some ideas.
The first I raised the land in a corner of the park and made a cave in which I put smaller themed pirate rides and shops. The ceiling had holes to allow natural (Funny to call it such) light in, as well as for a couple drop rides to fit through. Around the outside you found a small pond with a waterfall from the top. Looking down on the cave you saw the holes in the ceiling were also eye sockets and a nose cavity, and the teeth of a skull, with raised areas that looked like crossed bones (Just the ends and a bit of the shaft of the bone).
The second was a cove that led to a larger body of water which was lined with shops and rides. Mainly ON the water. Also had the Pirate fortress (Player made) and ship (also player made?) and staged a battle for park goers.
Hope this helps spark other ideas. GL!
