Use the filter to pick a theme you're most interested in building with. That way it limits your pieces so it's not overwhelming.
Don't be discouraged making simple dull buildings, you'll get better & more detailed the more you play, it's very easy to just go back and add some details later. You could also have the workshop up in the background if you don't like building, just do a quick search & use other peoples!
Trees & bushes also do wonders so surround lots of your open areas with them & it can help make your park look nice with very little effort.
All in all, just have fun & experiment with everything!
EDIT: some of the buildings are locked, but you can always open the scenario to edit as your own, then everything becomes accessible.
Pro tip - If you are planning a larger park and want a monorail near the entrance, remember to leave space! haha you have to research it on challenge mode so you might run out of space near the entrance of your park before you obtain it. Also if you want more cars on it you have to extend the station so it can get rather long, so for space you could raise the station up 2 grids to make space for paths or indoor buildings under it, looks nice as well.
Now, if you'll just tell me where I can find the guide markers for the paths I'll be all set! I've been looking for hours and can't find them.
They're usually signs (filter by Property > Editable Text) used as guides to mark where the end user should put the queue/s and exit path.
Gives you lots of good ideas. Also, dissecting said person's rides, buildings, etc help you understand better how things are done. Good luck and have fun!
Still can't find them. Do I have to download them from somewhere maybe?
Sorry if this gets too basic, I can't tell if this is a misunderstanding (I'm on the autism spectrum). But there's no such thing in the game as guide markers or path guide markers, there's Building and Scenery items that people who upload ride Blueprints to the Workshop use to indicate where the ride's queue path/s and exit path should be built by the players who downloaded the Blueprint. These indicators/markers/guides/etc are usually Signs that have simple instructions added to the text, like " this way --> ".
If you're playing in Windows (not sure about Mac or console) and you click on the Building or Scenery tab at the bottom of your screen you should get a panel that shows available items. At the top Left of this panel are the buttons "Blueprint" and "Custom", for this make sure "Custom" is selected. Between the "Custom" button and the "More Filters" button to its right is a space where the active filters are shown, make sure it's empty. Then click the "More FIlters" button, then the "Property" button, then the "Editable Text" checkbox.
Most of the signs are in Building, but a few useful ones (road signs with arrows) are in Scenery.
Does this help? If not, please post more details of what you're seeing when you try this, what you're playing on (Windows, Mac, console), if you're playing a Career Scenario (if so, which one), Challenge mode (if so, what biome and, Easy, Medium, Hard, or Harder), Sandbox, the Scenario Editor, or a Custom Scenario in regular play.
