Guest in general like to be around nice sensery.. they are more likely to spend money and stay in a park that has these things.
They affect:
-Ride's Prestige (which attracts guests to the ride)
-Queue Scenery Rating (which makes guest don't mind the line, and attracts guests to the ride)
-Park Scenery Rating (which makes your entire park more attractive to guests)
As the new prestige system basically only cares about extra scenery. Not ride quality or queue rating (Queue rating is also heaily skewed by how close to the actual line scenery is. I've got some blueprinted scenery setups for whem I'm in a hurry that will give me high Queue% if I put it directly beside the line, but notably less if I put it next to or behind the ride itself).
One of my bigger standout examples is how I'm able to lazily build a flat ride that can only hold 12 customers, has a 15+ minute queue time, and is LOSING money every month... 3+ Stars prestige easy. Because I built it near pre-existing scenic forest hillsides.
Meanwhile, the stuff built at the same time which I actually put EFFORT into? 100% queue rating, popular, pleasant profits, all the signs of a "High quality ride"... 1 star prestige.
You SHOULD go for 100% queue rating, as it is still expected of you. But it won't do nearly as much as it should. As the queue rating system (Which made sense) is now stacked on top of the incredibly poorly thought out and implemented Prestige/Age system.
EDIT: Oh right, bonus. Only coasters and tracked rides will list the overall "Ride scenery" rating, in their special test results tabs. No such visible statistic for flat rides.
