The simplist fix is to add scenery around your queue to give the guests something to look at while they wait. You can see the queue scenery rating in the ride info. The higher the rating, the more tolerant they are to long waiting times.
Alternatively, you could adjust the ride sequence or ride loading rules (rider and time requirements before starting) to get more people through the ride faster thus shortening queue times. (Personally, I prefer just adding more scenery.)
Tl;dr your queue is bland and boring, but not physically too long.
Edit: As of the new update, ride prestige most likely affects wait time tolerances, too.
Many rides will have people complain it is "Too long" even when there are not enough people in line to fill 3/4 the seats. Yet if you shrink the line any further, you'll instead get a bunch of people having to complain "The line is full!", because you measured it out to only allow a bit over one teacup ride's worth of people.
"max wait time 6 minutes!? That's way too high! Now I'm going to wait several sunset to ride a ferris wheel!...wait."
As for "Maybe the prestige system is lowering their tolerance?" quite possible, I know my gentle rides are now only worth about half as much tickets (yet lazy thrill rides I can still price gouge as usual). So some arbitraru extra penalties could be in play... but if so, the means of dealing with it is NOT, improving your ride or optimising the size of your lines.
The prestige system only cares about scenery, not ride quaility.
Because you can have a terrible thrill ride burning a hole in your wallet every month have 3 stars and climing, while your most popular and finanfially succesfulrides will have garbage 1 star prestige because even though your Queue rating is 100% as usual, you didn't barf a bunch of extras down or built it by an already existing tree covered hillside.
"Your line is bland and boring!" is a quick and easy blame the player casual answer. Which quickly tries to hide the fact a 100% queue rating didn't do anything to prevent such complaints before, and a 100% queue rating does nothing to help your prestige value now.
I'll can agree my answer was pretty one-sided and geared towards player error. The reason being, we're all relatively new to the game, so I see questions like these as pointing to a simple mistake that the player isn't aware of; in this case the guests seem to be opting out of staring at the grass/the ride/each other for several minutes while waiting to get on a ride. Even if adding scenery doesn't fix the problem, at least it's a good first step in the right direction. It's kinda like "making sure it's plugged in first."
With all due respect, I also think your answer is pretty one-sided but instead geared towards game error, saying that the game is just bugged and nothing can be done to fix the "long line" problem. Also, in my eyes, you answer is a bit of a bash on mine. The only difference between my answer and yours is how we filled in the blanks.
I don't really want to argue about this. You are entitled to your opinion and if it differs from mine, I respect that. We're both just here to help the OP out.
Edit: referring to ImHelping's first comment.
Edit 2: rewording/clarification
It's not the length of the queue path. It's the sim reaching the entrance of the ride, seeing a ton of people in line, and deciding the queue will take forever, like real humans do.
Put a couple 90 degree bends in, and an archway or two, and use scenery so that sims can't see the actual length of the queue. BAM. No more complaints about long queue times.
You really need to change your name, because you are not helping. Peraps you could change your name to "I'm whining" or "I'm angry and not very bright but like to type a lot."
The last paragraph is what I wanted to say the second time.
I like your wording better though.
