Fences or Guard Rails?
Hey everyone, I know I might make myself look stupid here.
But I was wondering if there are any fences or guard Rails in the game?
I just got the game last night and haven't explored every single feature.
But those two are the ones that I can't seem to find in terms adding stuff into your park.
Are they something you actually need to build?
Or am I not looking at the right spot?
I am not referring to the "Queue" section on the Paths menu by the way.
I mean actual legit guard rails and fences that you can put down.
I only ask this because in several videos I see them present in the park that the person had featured in their video.

Right, when you click on paths, click the advanced settings (It's the tab that doesnt' look like a cog on the right hand side). There you will find options like guard rails etc.

Hope that helps.

Thank you. :)
That helped a lot.
I wouldn't have been able to figure that out if you didn't tell me.

Since guests won't walk off the paths even if they don't have fences, building your own is also a viable option, if there's a particular look you want. Design a short section (4m-8m), make a blueprint of it, and then drop in as many as you like. I've been making some steampunk-themed scenery and made some fencing out of iron pipes that has steam hissing out of one of the pipe joints in each fence section. Fun stuff.

Fair effort! I am assuming that is in either challenge or sandbox?

So far, yes, but they could also be useful in some of the career scenarios where you're trying to achieve high scenery ratings or park value. You could also just line your ride queue paths with a few of them for some easy ride queue scenery points. (shameless plug: they're on the Workshop if you search for "steampunk fence".)

@Voilodion - shameless plug requires a link to the workshop page. That is truly a shamelessl way to plug!

For example - I may have some music on my (redacted) accounts ( website.com/somethingusername or website.com/alternateusername ) for use on your fun fair rides. #shameless_plug for ride music. :steamhappy:

Back on topic, I will take a look later for Steam punk fences ☺

Edit - Narad - you know why.

Edit 2 - post your link to the workshop file here in the thread Voilodion.

It's not shameless, it completely shameful and has absolutely NOTHING to do with the OP question about fencing, the game, or anything useful. Please go advertise you content somewhere else

<edit: removed back seat moderating by me, sorry folks>

Ok - had to log in on PC to deal with this.

1) Steam discussion guidelines actually state that backseat moderation (which is what you are effectively doing) is against Steam Forum Guidelines - front and centre in fact.

2) The definition of shameless is about the feeling or displaying of shame being absent in the process of executing an action or deed. I felt none and, if you look at what I wrote, I was expressing no shame.

3) The very fact you have ignored Steam Forum Guidelines about approaching people's behaviour you disagree with in a statement, instead of reporting it, is interpretted by myself, as incitement to flame. Further to the human condition called defending yourself to an incongruous charge. Which I have, and will continue to do so.

4) Considring the fact that there was an absence of specificity in my comment about genre of music, titles of the tracks they might enjoy, credits of such compositions - the defacto standard for advertising - means that there was no actual advertising involved.

5) My comment had everything to do with the o/p. I was encouraging Voilodion to post his links here to the mod that he had uploaded to the workshop and suggesting a format to use. Thereby encouraging the sharing of information pertaining to the o/p. In fact if you look at the format of the post you're so keen to critique, you'd notice a typical format - answer of the most recent information with something contributed to further the conversation that had evolved and an example of how to do it differently.

You see, MY EXPERIENCE of being on steam is that when mods are pertaining to a discussion the posting of links to the mods are actually permitted. It helps with the cylical nature of the sharing of information. Other people seek out this thread to, perhaps answer their questions, find information that helps (i.e. links to mod on the steam workshop) and then check further to the workshop. Check the Skyrim discussions for plenty of examples of Mod and Steam Workshop plugging.

6) Narad - You're not a moderator yet carry yourself in the forums as one. As you are so keen to dispense the knowledge of the rules of steam you would be aware that your post breaches these very rules. Which could be interpretted by some as hypocritical at the very least.

However, this is just the hyperbole of a series of thoughts at this stage of a man who has autism and interprets things very differently to people like yourself, dealing with the most relevent and recent of posts.

Apologies for backseat moderating. You are right. Quite hypocritical fo me. That's my mistake. I hope people find my posts helpful rather than moderating (but it certainly was moderating here.....my bad). But I don't want to hijack this thread either and continue to bebate my mistakes made.

Back to fences.

And my apologies for a wall of text to defend myself. I do like to be clear. As you can see I have removed the offending links, more to be safe than sorry. If you could requote the offending post, without my links, I would be grateful.

Still, it would be nice of Voilodion to post the link to his workshop item as there may be others who find merit in his work whle in a similar situation.

Peace dude!

Ok, let's see if this works:

I may make a third one that's more on the "ornate Victorian ironwork" end of steampunk, if I can find suitable pieces for it.

Nice vollodion. Those are pretty cool.

I found the game lacking in fencing as well so as you can see, I have created quite of few of my own.

Thank you. The red pipe fence is probably a bit too long to look good on tightly curved paths, and I may yet change the lamp on top (too small for the post), but I was happy with how the pipes themselves came out.

I think there's definitely a niche for small filler stuff like this, at least for players who want to build really immersive parks. People have made some amazing station buildings and grand set pieces, but paying attention to all the little stuff in between rides and around queues is what turns a good park into a great one, in my view.
