GPU fan is way too loud
does this happen to anyone else?

R9 200 series. GPU

within 2/3 mins of starting the game my GPU is roaring. graphics are all on low, v-sync etc. profile in radion to keep v-sync on. need a solution to this as the sound is driving me crazy.

even GTA V isnt that loud, game is unplayable, will this be fixed or should i refund it?

annoying cause i really wanna play this

Usually your GPU fan only spins accordingly to what temperature your GPU is getting. With an old card like that it must be running very hot cause it is working very hard to run this game. I like my computer loud and always have had fans running loud cause I like the cooling and peace of mind. Plus when I am gaming I never here the PC with my headsets on.

Old card?! its barely 2 years old....its not the card, its THIS GAME. no other game does this....

No, my fans run at a constant low speed at all times, because I have proper cooling.

It's never the game's fault it's your build. There is a power limit in every component in your PC, and if was built properly it should work when all of those power limits are hit simutenously.

again, its not my builds fault. ONLY THIS GAME DOES THIS. GTA V isnt half as noisy.

and before you all keep telling me to remove guests, its happening on an empty park.

nothing todo with my "old card" or my "build" its to do with poor development.
Of course it is, you didn't read my comment did you? See what I said? This game, or any other game can never exceed the power limit of your GPU. And if your GPU can't handle its own power limit, it's not the game's fault.

some gpu fans just make a loud noise.......

I had a verry loud 7970 was just the bad cooling/fan design..... the card can handle it but just will make a lot of noise.... after that bought a strix 970 my pc is very silent now....

so if you can't stand the noise get a other card otherwise don't worry to much about it
aslong you don't get artifacts and stuff youre card is fine.
they can get verry hot

again this is the only game that does that. i just want a way to limit it. i dont need my card to be at 100% load at all times.

im not buying a new card just cause one game decides to run differently to every other.

again that has just to do with heat so how more load on the card the more heat
there will be more games in the fute that will get that card to a high work load and thus more noise.

that is just the problem of the fan on your heatsink

if you want to keep the card just ignore the noise or stop playing
The amount of stupid in this thread is unreal.

OP, Jesus Christ, man.

OK first up. What temperature is your GPU running at? If you don't know the answer to this problem, download a program (such as MSI afterburner, and run it whilst you game).

Second. If the temperature is 80c or below, you should be fine.

third. I have a GtX 1070. I use an aggressive fan curve, and often when gaming (Titanfall 2, Planet Coaster, RoTR etc) and my fan is running at 100% fan speed. You know what though?

I don't hear it. I use this modern invention called "headphones".

Also, a loud fan is much more preferable to your GPU burning itself out, but hey, that's none of my business ;)

Also, what settings are you running GTA5 in? What settings are you trying to run Planet Coaster in?

Information helps instead of whinging about how the devs aren't doing their jobs properly.

yeah, i dont like using headphones. the game runs fine & the gpu isnt over-heating - they aint the issue. its just damn annoying that the game just jumps to 100% load all the time causing the fans to spin up to compensate it. i cant play for more than 10 mins without the fans getting annoying...

like i said previously i just wanted to know if anyone had found a way to stop it running at 100% load until it really needs it. its overkill.

Download MSI Afterburner (or similar program, whatever) and manually set a fan curve. It will change speed depending on what you have set it on.

Just be careful of causing thermal damage to your GPU.

ill give it a try. thanks dude

would really watch out with that because it doesn't turn on the fans for no reason.

i know....hence my original point it was down to the developers to fix this sort of thing.

i get they wanna get the most out of our hardware etc. but my god, fans runing at 100% when they really shouldnt be is just silly. makes my pc sound like one of those console things when the fans run that hard.....

like i said, the game runs fine, gpu isnt over heating. its just annoying fans.

this is when playing with the graphics on the lowest setting even, like i said, gta v dont make my fans kick up and i had that in high/medium settings

I don't know what case you own and how many case fans it has mounted in it, but with a decent size case, extra case fans, an aftermarket CPU cooler and cable management your can considerably lower the temperatures within.

My CPU for instance barely goes over 40C under full load and my GPU never goes over 70C and that way it keeps very quiet.

That your fans are roaring and that the temperatures are high within your PC case isn't the fault of developers. It's a hardware problem.

again, its only the gpu fan cause the game is making it load 100%. CPU temps are fine...cheers for the input though

Oh it seems that I've missed that part, my apologies.

That's really odd then that if your temps are stable and low that suddenly the fan speed increases. I never heard of that one before.

ive never had a game do this before. other people are saying it runs fine, im at a loose end...

I had a hot plate of food near my computer one day and I thinkl it was making my fan go on high. It stopped after I figured it out.
freakshowfreak 4 DIC 2016 a las 13:44
it's a heavy game and it has a lot more going on than most other games a game like gta v doesn't render the whole map. ( all the people and details....)
so it uses a lot more cpu and gpu as the load goes up so does the heat...... that the fan can make a awful noise has also a lot to do with the quality of the fan... like I said before some cards just are/can be verry noisy.

you could try to make the airflow in the case better and keep it as dust free as posible.
as newer games come out you will have more chance they will have a heavyer load on that older gpu and thus make more noise.
thegodsend 4 DIC 2016 a las 16:27
it is and isnt the game. they may be able to optimize the game so ur gpu doesnt run as hard, but its unlikly it will make a huge differenace due to this being a temp issue. in otherwords, dont hold ur breath. Dust out ur PC. make sure u have more intake than exaust to create positive air pressure in ur case. make sure ur cables aren't blocking airflow. u can use the GPU manufacturer's overclocking software to create a custom fan curve (MSI Afterburner for example). So if ur temp is -65c ur fan is low but above 80c ur at 100% or something. just be sure to stay below ur max temp. dont ask me what ur max temp is. use google.
