Which items can be rotated on more than one axis?
say i want a crooked tower... is there any way to rotate the pre built castle spires? they only want to spin, rotating on the x axis, .
seems like most items can only be spun on one axis,
this is WITH the "advanced rotating" on.
most items only have a green circle.
how do i get the red and blue

some of the things i see in other peoples parks are not possible to create with all the items locked on the y axis.

so frustrating.
ok i think every piece i lay is part of a building already.... how do i stop that.
i cant rotate ANYTHING on more than then green axis.
small custom pieces.
im following video guides on how to do basic stuff and nothing is working,

ok.
open fresh park
hit T
place castle wall 2m on ground.
can only rotate green axis.
i exit all the UI
i double click the item
i click advance rotate
still can only see grreen axis.

If you spent a decent amount of time in the editor this would be obvious.

- Building items (the ones that come with a grid) can not be rotated on all axis. All other items can be rotated freely.

- Anything that is merged/grouped as part of a building will no longer rotate on all axis unless selected individually within that group.

- Building objects can be rotated within a group by pressing Z.

Edit: Wall, Floor and Roof pieces are not interchangeable. You can't rotate a wall into a floor or vice versa.

just to be crystal clear here, youre saying that there is no way within the game, to rotate the selected piece, to be flat on top of these other pieces? no matter what i do, this isnt "user error"

are all floors "paths"

They have a grey box around them. Just avoid using those if you don't want to. You can't exclude them from the list without excluding other stuff.

In the Building section, there is a small menu to the bottom left where you can filter things. Roof, Wall Signs, Door and Windows, Walls and Decorations.

Arches, Wall Pieces and Frameworks are all grid based. Some columns are part of the grid, some are not. None of the decorations, wall signs, doors or windows are part of the grid.

Use a roof or floor piece. Wall pieces are only for walls.

ok look
some of those grid based pieces are cocke eyed
and ive had some come out cocke eyed too
so i know there has to be some secret way to make items not all perpendicular.

What part of that video are you linking to? Grid pieces have set rules to ensure you can space and connect them properly. You can not rotate them on Blue and red axis. That's just how it works. There is no secret way of doing it, not that I know of at least.

i dont know.
i rewatched some vids that i could have swore had crooked objects, and i guess everything is pretty vertical, its just the twists of rides that make them appear to not be i think.
im still kind of baffled at some of these limitations. will have to completely rethink my building methods.
im used to the map builder in overgrowth, it allows for all items and groups or "buildings" to be rotated scaled, tiled skins so they dont get low res when you scale large, and such

Yes, I find this limitation annoying too and I would be happy if all grid pieces were made available in "non-grid" versions that can be rotated freely. As it is right now, you just have to build within the limitations that we currently have. It's annoying at first but once you get the hang of it, building becomes a breeze.

ok thanks for the help, ill be back with more questions soon probably

One way to trick the game is to make custom pieces.

Use the grided piece as a template, and build non-gridded pieces on top of it. Delete the gridded piece and you can frealy rotate the one you built. Its a PITA, but works.

Really dumb you cant freely rotate all pieces. And that you cant have a grid to build on for all pieces. Makes lining up stuff easier.

It's a real problem to not have the option to switch between grid and non grid on some stuff. I lost much time on this and i don't think it's so hard to implement in the game.
