You can't built any height change with grid, as the whole point of selecting the grid is to lock your height. If you want perfect 90 degree angles and stairs, you can build one level of the path with grid, then disable the grid and build the stairs with the snap to 90 degrees option selected

i dont want 90° angels. i want 100% straight stairs

I should have been more clear. The 90 degree lock keeps the stairs snapped to either -90, 0, or 90 degrees - you have the three options. The snap fuction doesn't mean you HAVE to turn 90 degrees, it simply means that if you do you can only turn in 90 degree incriments - but you can still build in a straight line. So if you are building a perfectly straight path on the grid, and want your stairs to continue along that perfectly straight line, deselect the grid and then snap to 90 degree angles - you will now have 3 options a left turn stairs, a straight stairs, or a right turn stairs.

check the lower right corner of the image. the path building popup has angle snap as the first option under the gear tab. Thats how I built the perfectly angled zig zag and the strairs at straight angles.

in this image, you can see that you had an 8 or 10m path, then placed a smaller path (4-6m?), and now you are trying to build the stairs with an 8m.

Delete out a few sections, then rebuild them at the right size and then try to build the stairs. Let me know if that works.

actually it should be the same size. it was 2x4m path. but i can try

Ohhh, now I get it. I thought the path on the ground was a single 8-10m path. But it's two 4m paths built as a grid, isn't it?

When you try to build the 8m stairs off that grid section, the game will only attach it to one of the two grid pieces, that's why it's all crazy angles.

What I do in this instance is build the end of the grid 4 blocks wide, an extra on each side. Now, deselect grid but leave the path at 4m. Angle snap to 90. Now build the stairs off the two middle grid pieces as two sets of stairs, thenconnect the paths again at the top. After you're done delete the two side pieces you built at the bottom.

That's hard to explain verbally. If it doesn't make sense I'll take some screenshots later tonight to show you what I mean.
