Trick to getting people to ride custom coasters?
So I keep trying different coasters but I can't get anyone to ride them. I built a coaster that was almost identical to one of the prebuild ones and still people were too afraid of it.

I get that my first coaster was pretty brutal and would be scary, but SOMEONE would ride it, I even made it free.

So, is there a way to get people to ride any customs?

There isn't any way to force customers to ride coaster which have too high of fear. You need to get it down below 7 or so for them to ride it, and even then most guests wont ride it til its in the 5s.

Do you want the coaster that scarey on purpose? Because if it's just that it's tricky to get the fear low enough, feel free to upload your coaster to the workshop and post a link here. We can take a look and point out the sections that are causing the fear issue and how to resolve it.

Thanks for the reply. I have no problem playing with the build and try to tone it down a bit, but they really need to change it so that even if the ride is REALLY scary, someone will ride it. I just got back from Cedar Point and the Top Thrill Dragser or Millenium Force would never be ridden in this game because they're too scary, yet the lines are packed in real life.

I believe that any real life coaster can be created in game, and if done correctly, people will ride it:

Fear as the game calculates is all related to the speed of the coaster during changes on the X/Y/Z axis, amplified by the rate at which that change occurs.

Put in less nerdy talk, if the game calculates a ride as too high of fear, it means that the G forces experienced on the ride would literally physically injur a person in real life.

All that said, if what you're looking for is SOMEONE to ride it no matter what, I guess that's a design decision by the devs, based on how much of a realistic simulation the game should be.

I have thought a custom career map editor is needed, where in addition to other goals and custom settings you can alter the guest tolerances for rides. A few included scenarios do this already, although they focus on guests wanting less scary rides, not more.

Here's hoping they bring the custome career maps editor in the future!

I watched that video too but the problem is, the TTD in game doesn't even approach 120mph or 430 feet in height and the Millennium Force isn't 310 feet and I doubt it goes 93mph, because the game mechanics would never allow it to be ridden.

I would really like to hear from the Devs about the fear choice because as it is, I just really don't feel it is anywhere near realistic and honestly, its made the game more difficult for me to enjoy because I can't create coasters that push the boundaries like coaster in real life do.

I appreciate the discussion and hope you're not taking my comments as arguing, I'm just frustrated that this good of a coaster game that IMO has a really glaring flaw holding it back.

You have to build coasters that people like to ride. Families don't like a lot of fear, and teens like 4-6 fear level. Nobody likes nausea except the first aid booth.

Try to get your excitement as high as possible. Airtime is the best way to do this. Test run the coaster and keep an eye on your heatmaps - you do not want extreme heatmaps in any of the categories except excitement and speed.

If you upload your coaster to Steam Workshop, maybe someone can test it for you and give pointers.
