"Unable to initialize steam api" [Planet Coaster]
Hi everyone,

I don't know if there is already a solution about the topics error, however, I'm unhappy to see this error message when I try to launch the Planet Coaster application after it's reinstall. When I tried to run the program at the first time, the program was running only in the background without a chance to switch it to the foreground.

I have uninstalled the game and after updating drivers for graphic card, network etc. I have reinstalled the game. Now the topics error shows up when the game is running. In the installation directory there is a file named steam_api64.dll.

Do you have some ideas? Maybe these informations are necessary:
- Windows 10 64 bit
- AMD Radeon HD 6570
- AMD FX 4300 Quad-Core CPU
- Planet Coaster with the newest online update which came automatically after installing the game by DVD

Thank you. :)

I suggest you reboot your pc, so steam also reboots, and checks for any updates.

After which you check the file integrity (library>planet coaster properties > local files > check intergrity) and try relaunching planet coaster.

If this still doesn't help, try reverting your video card driver back to an older version which does work.

Hope this helps!

I'm sorry. These operations didn't work. I have checked the file integrity and steam reported that no file was crashed. I also tried to delete the file steam_api64.dll and by using the file integrity the same file with the identical size has been recreated but the error still exists.

I also tried to reinstall steam with the newest version. Nothing happened.

I'm not sure if this would work again, because by using the previous graphics driver the program was running only as a background process without a chance to switch it to the foreground. o.O

Frontier says this:

Planet Coaster will not start up - Planet Coaster does not start at all, an Error message mentioning api-ms-win-crt-(...).dll is shown in some cases.
Updated: Thursday 17th November 2016

This error comes up on some systems when some Windows updates are missing. This will cause the an installer for the Visual C++ redistributable (an essential requirement to play) to fail and cause the problem.

Please check for updates on your computer as described here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3067639
After this has completed, simply re-run the installers found in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Coaster\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015

If this does not resolve this problem in your case, please create a ticket and let us know. As with all technical issues, a Dxdiag system report will be very helpful in understanding the situation.

If this does not work, open a ticket at frontier.

Hey everyone,
unfortunately i've got the same problem.
I've installed all the new windows update as of today, i've reinstalled Steam (as someone somewhere else suggested) and no matter where i launch planet coaster from it allways gives me the message.
I've contacted the Frontier support team but maybe you guys can help me out quicker.
