How do you get 8 Excitement and sub-5 Fear on the last Hard career challenge?
I have been trying for ages now to get this ridiculous requirement set for the last challenge of Career mode, and had no success. Every time I put a damper on Fear, Excitement drops too. I have the track decked out in special effects, to the point that adding more does not affect Excitement any longer. Any tips?

Look at the heatmap for excitement. At the places where excitement is low, try banking the track in interesting ways. If it's on a turn, reverse-bank the curve. If it's just straight, bank the track left and right to make it "bumpy." Or adjust the height to make it bump up and down. This usually increases excitement without increasing fear too much. If you're close to 8/5, just changing a bank by a couple of degrees can push you over what you need.

If your coaster uses anything like a hydraulic launch, brakes, or other elements that allow you to modify values such as acceleration speed, try messing around with those values.

On the other hand, if your coaster isn't even close to 8/5 maybe try a complete redesign. A pretty good starting point might be to just make a Sprint 500 coaster that launches the guests straight very fast (100mph-ish) and then gradually goes into a vertical climb. Guests get excited when they go fast, and they don't get very afraid until they start TURNING fast.

Good luck. It took me about an hour and a half of fine-tuning to get this objective.

In the end I just downloaded a coaster off of the Workshop to finish it. Although I was stupid-close with the one I designed (7.69/4.98 was the best I got with it; pretty impressive given that it was a chain-lift American Eagle), I just wanted the stupid thing over with. Thanks for the advice, though.

I know this is old, but for those seeking the answer this was not particularly helpful advice for me. Use a launch coaster at about 108 miles per hour go straight up from the end of the launch twist 90 degrees on the rise. Use show elevation to help you get the exact 100 m drop you need. At the top do a gentle turn on the 90 degrees and the go down with another 90 degree turn to return back the direction you came. use trim breaks on full power throughout the decent. A bunch of gentle hills and then a banked 180 degree turn back to the station. Use the heat map for any further adjustments.

One thing to consider is that some coasters by their basic function produce more fear than others. Likewise the same goes for fear. Track type might be the bigger part of what a build can produce excitement and fear related.
